Frankie Bunn was once known as the player who bagged six goals in a game for Oldham, but six goals conceded on Boxing Day have ultimately cost him his job.
The Latics have been on the cusp of the play-off race, but they’ve struggled to maintain any consistency despite having some strong players at their disposal. of their last ten matches in League Two and FA Cup, they’ve lost just two, but that has cost Bunn his job.
Where do they go from here? They’ve had ten managers in three years and two of those, John Sheridan and Richie Wellens, are currently doing well with clubs in League Two.
There’s certainly a feeling from fans that this move isn’t the right one, with many angry at the decision. They feel perhaps Bunn was on the right track and that maybe giving a manager time would have been the best option.
Here’s a selection of their angry responses to the sacking.
Dear Mr Lemsagam, I would like to apply for the current vacant position of First Team Manager. Whilst I may lack professional football experience I feel that the thing I can bring to the job is that it must be my turn now. Yours faithfully etc etc.

backward step, the guy loves the club, don't care about the 6 nil yesterday that's gone, this is a bad move, maybe the new owner should 'do one'…..

The sacking of Frank Bunn can only mean one thing! The chairman is going to bring in his own man to manage the club and give him millions for new players. The future looks bright for Oldham now!!! #fatherchristmastoothfairyeasterbunnyandgod

No direction, no funds, no clear plan, and a toxic culture not helped by the smoke and daggers! #OAFC the club I love I can see folding, it’s a shambles

The team has put in some great performances this season, and half way through Exeter match we were in the playoffs. A club should not sack a manager based on a one week blip! Why have attendances been higher this year? Frankie, that’s why. Thanks for your passion and effort

10 managers in 3 years, what on earth is going on at Boundary Park. 😒 It's a tragedy that this once fine club has fallen to such depths. Could it be that we start the 2019/20 season in non league as that is the way we are going. No stability, no sense of leadership and no faith.
