Blackpool and Plymouth are amongst the sides thought to be leading the chase for Blackburn Rovers youngster Lewis Travis.
HITC has reported that the 21-year old is coveted by Terry McPhillips and Derek Adams, but they’re not alone in their admiration for the midfielder. Portsmouth and Wycombe are both thought to be in the chase, as are League Two side Lincoln City.
The Tangerines are thought to be at the head of the queue, with a convenient location and a good chance at regular football. Portsmouth might not offer the first team chances that the player wants and Wycombe’s style may not suit Blackburn’s needs.
Lincoln City are the outsiders, they’re currently in a lower division and have not played Scott Wharton as regularly as Tony Mowbray would have liked.
Travis is highly regarded at Ewood Park and they will take much care and consideration before deciding where to send the player on loan.
Travis is a highly versatile player, capable of playing anywhere across the back four, or in midfield but favouring the right hand side. He’s know for his ferocious tackling and signed for Rovers from Liverpool in 2014.
He has made eight appearances for the club this season, including one against suitors Lincoln City in the EFL trophy, as well as appearing ten times last season.
Our View
Travis is incredibly well thought of and there’s a lot of Blackburn fans who would like to see more of him around the first team.
Someone is going to get a gem, the gut feeling here is Blackpool but it might be that Tony Mowbray looks at facilities, coaches and opportunity over other factors such as location and even the level of football.
