MK Dons So Far: “Long may this continue!”

Thanks to @Mk_DONS_H for his responses to our questions for this article. If you’d like to give your opinion on your team, please get in touch, @therealefl1 or therealefl@gmail.com.

How has the season gone for you so far?

So far the season has gone absolutely brilliant, I have enjoyed every minute of it. We are flying high at the top of League Two and are playing some really nice football under Paul Tisdale. All of our fans, including me, seem to be happy with the man in charge so far and he has turned the rut of the last few years into a lot of joy this time round. Long may this continue!

Who has been your key player and why?

So, there are many players who I could list here but if I had to choose one I think I would have to say Rhys Healey, the man on loan from Cardiff has settled right in to the team and has fired in 7 goals so far since arriving in August. He is a great young player with a lot of talent and most MK Dons fans will agree with me. Also, in my opinion Jordan Houghton has impressed in the middle of the park, spraying the passes out wide from the centre. He is truly a wonderful player to watch week in week out.

Which player has disappointed you the most this season and why?

The weak link in the team has to be Kieran Agard. Even though he went on a scoring run of 6 games and broke the record I still think the same of him as I did before. His first touch is awful, and he doesn’t provide nothing to the team at all. Scores now and then from a tap in and people go mad about him, however he is rubbish and should not play any higher than League Two.

Which game have you enjoyed the most to date and why?

I’m not sure why but the night game at home to Notts County was a good one where we came back from 1-0 down to win 2-1. In this game Chuks Aneke equalised from the penalty spot and then Healey scored from an incredible angle. I enjoyed this one as we came back to win from a losing position where we haven’t seen this over the past few years. This year we have shown the passion and spirit we have needed to for ages and this game summed it all up in my opinion.

What has been the lowest point of your season so far?

Overall the season hasn’t had many low points as it’s been so successful but if I had to say, it would probably be bowing out of the FA Cup in the first round to Grimsby Town. The positive with this was that we could concentrate on the league which is the main focus of course, however most fans like to go on a cup run and maybe play one of the big Premier League teams. Indeed this played on my mind as it was a shock, but I suppose it isn’t that bad as we’re now top of the league.

How do you think the second half of the season will go for you?

I believe the second half of the season will end up being just as successful as the first has been. As long as we keep Rhys Healey I think that we will be totally fine and will definitely get promotion back to league one. However, if we do lose the front man I believe we may not do as well as we should as he has proven to play a big part in the side.

What will you be hoping to see happen at your club in the transfer window?

As I’ve said already, I hope that in January we extend Rhys Healey’s loan to the end of the season or even purchase him. I believe that if we did buy him, it would be a very good decision as he is a fan favourite and has played a big part so far while he’s been at the Dons. Every dons fan would be happy with him staying for longer so why not? Our squad is big enough already and have first team players that will struggle to make it into the 18 man squad, so therefore I don’t think we will need to acquire any extra players.

Which other League 2 players would you like to see your side sign?

One player that I’ve always wanted to see at the Dons is Sammy Smozdics from Colchester, he seems like a very creative attacking midfielder, someone that we could do with as he would chip in with some goals as well as assists. Another player that I would have liked to had at Dons is Kevin Van Veen of Northampton. When he was at Scunny I really liked the look of him as he was banging in the goals week in week out. Last one, most Dons fans wanted Tis to bring Jayden Stockley with him from Exeter as he has shown class in league two also, scoring many goals in his time at Exeter.

Ps: Please, John Marquis come and join us at the Dons, you would be a hero
