John Sheridan has admitted that striker Ashley Nadeson is going to be recalled by parent club Fleetwood this January, with the intention of fighting for a first team place.
Nadeson has been excellent for the Cumbrians so far and is currently their leading scorer, but Joey Barton has indicated that he’s now expected to return to Fleetwood to prove his worth.
However, cynical Sheridan believes there’s much more of a likelihood that they’ll cash in while the player’s value is high.
“I always thought that would be the case that they’d want him [back]. Whether they’re trying to move him on, I know they are trying to sell Nadders,” said Sheridan.
“Nadders is happy and wants to stay here, but, obviously, Fleetwood is his club and I respect that. So, we will prepare. It’s in our heads that he is probably moving on, so we need to replace him, and that’s what we are trying to do. We are looking at options and [we will] be ready for when we have to do it.”
It’s been reported that Mansfield and Crawley may be looking at the speedy striker, with ambitious Salford City also amongst the potential suitors.
24-year old Nadeson began his career is the south-east with Horley, but joined Fleetwood in 2016. He’s yet to make a significant impression for the Cod Army and is highly likely to be moving to a new club once the window opens.
Our View
He’s moving on. Of course he is. Fleetwood might have him around the squad, but a tenner says right now he doesn’t get a look in. They’re going to cash in whilst there’s interest after his impressive displays at Brunton Park.
Why not too? They owe Carlisle nothing, his goals helped them to a decent position by the start of December and he’s going to be a big asset for someone going into the second half of the season.
Just not Carlisle.
