Oldham Athletic earned themselves a credible point last night with a 1-1 draw against table toppers Lincoln City.
The Imps came off the summit courtesy of MK Dons win against Morecambe, but perhaps should have taken all three points after playing against ten men for over half the game.
Striker Ishmael Miller was sent off for a horror challenge of keeper Josh Vickers, coming in high and late after the keeper collected a loose ball. The reaction of the nearest Oldham player told the story, his hands went straight to his head as he knew what his team-mate had done.
Sadly, the official Oldham Athletic Twitter account did not. They claimed to be ‘absolutely baffled’ by the decision.
It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Oldham, Sam Surridge came on and played incredibly well with the hosts looking more dangerous on the break than they had with eleven men on the field.
Still, how can a club’s official Twitter feed not see the malice in the challenge? these fans couldn’t believe it either.
