Harry Kewell hasn’t been able to address the problems at Notts County, merely continuing the season of disappointment started by Kevin Nolan.
The Magpies have won just three games all season, but are currently on a four-game losing streak in all competitions.
Former Liverpool winger Kewell believes he knows exactly what his side need to press on; leaders.
Speaking after the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Swindon Town this weekend, Kewell identified the players he currently has who might fit the bill, but also spoke of wanting to make signings in January.
“We have a leader in Steady and we have Wardy who has great potential,” said Kewell. “We have Milly who is a talker, but we are needing that leader.”
“If we can get it, we will get it. I am angry because we lost and God knows how. But that’s football. We have to lick our wounds and concentrate on Port Vale this weekend because it’s a huge game.”
The Magpies are only two points above the drop zone and two points behind Morecambe who are fourth from bottom.
They’ll be alright, but it won’t be a season they’ll remember fondly on one side of Nottingham. There’s enough quality around the team to spark something, Kane Hemmings is always worth a goal and Lewis Alessandra is a talented player too.
There’s three or four teams far worse than the Magpies at the moment and those sides will be the reason they stay up, if nothing else.
