Braintree striker Bettamer in League Two talks

Braintree Town striker Mo Bettamer is in talks with an unnamed League Two club as he seeks a move away from Essex.

He refused to play for Braintree this weekend as they faced Barnet in the FA Cup and is thought to be in talks with at least one League Two club. Bettamer wasn’t under contract at Braintree and is free to leave Cressing Road.

He’s scored six goals in 15 outings so far this season, but has clearly had his head turned by the possible lure of league football. There is also thought to be another National League side in the hunt, should the ‘big’ move fall through.

The 25-year old has shown himself to be a strong and competitive centre forward, comfortable playing as a lone striker or as part of a double act. He can break from deep and has demonstrated a keen eye for goal in a tough season for the Iron.

Where will Bettamer go? There’s all manner of rumours flying around, with Colchester United linked with him and Lincoln City thought to be keeping an eye on the situation.

There’s also been a hint that Barnet might be preparing a move for the Libyan, hence him not being available for Braintree’s match with them this weekend.

Whatever the destination, it seems he has already played his last for Braintree. His double secured them a draw ten days ago at Salford City, who are also thought to have been interested.
