Oldham manager Frankie Bunn has demanded his side-show a strong response in their trip to Bradford City this evening.
They lost 3-1 at Boundary Park this weekend to Carlisle United and Bunn wants them to shelve that awful performance and show what they’re capable of in this evening’s cup tie.
The manager told local media: “We go to Bradford to win the game. Saturday was a bad day at the office and this is a good opportunity to bounce back.”
Like Mansfield Town, the Latics don’t have a game this weekend and Bunn admitted he could field a strong side as a result of the week of rest.
“With no game on Saturday, it may have an influence on team selection tonight – we’ll have to wait and see. We were young against Barnsley – as they were. We named a young squad that night but we may change that tonight.”
Oldham lost their opening game in the competition against the Tykes 2-1, but a result tonight would see them back in the hunt for a place in the next round.
Everton Under 21s make up the remainder of the group. they were eliminated at the group stage last season by eventual winners Lincoln City.
Our View
Oldham are fortunate that they benefit from Mansfield’s international call ups, meaning they could go strong.
It might be advisable, they struggled against Carlisle after showing some real promise recently and it would help to get back to winning ways quickly against a struggling Bradford side.
