Mickey Mellon is relishing welcoming Lincoln City to Prenton Park tonight after his side’s 1-1 draw with Mk Dons at the weekend.
Tranmere and Lincoln might not seem like a grudge match, but the Imps pipped Rovers to the National League title in 2017, condemning Mellon to another season out of the Football League.
They bounced back last season and earned the right to have visits from teams such as Lincoln City. Mellon is relishing the chance of locking horns with them once more.
“It should be a great game, underneath the lights at Prenton Park with a big crowd there, the pitch is beautiful and hopefully it will be a good evening.”
“Hopefully we’ll get a good turnout to come and see two very competitive teams going for three points, so we’re very much looking forward to it.”
The two last met at Prenton Park in 2016, when Macauley Bonne’s goal gave the Imps the win, but prior to that Tranmere were unbeaten against Lincoln in over fifty years on home soil.
Our View
This is a huge game for Tranmere, they’re only just outside the play offs and, if we’re right, they’ll be fighting for a top seven spot for most of the season.
In James Norwood they have the division’s leading scorer and if anyone can hinder the Imps charge to promotion, it is the Super White Army this evening.
