Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has been offering his opinions on the big matches in the Football League this week.
As per usual, he deals with all of the Championship games, something we’re not interested in, but he also has an opinion on the two leading sides in League One and in League Two.
You can read all of his predictions here, but he’s opted to offer some in-depth insight into Peterborough’s home match with Portsmouth, as well as Lincoln’s trip to Macclesfield Town.
On Peterborough and Portsmouth, the two leading sides in League One, he said: “Peterborough did brilliantly to nick a late win at Southend last week and Steve Evans has done fantastically to mould a new side together so quickly. This is a tough one to call but I’m going to back Peterborough.” He calls a 2-0 win for the home side.
Moving on to Lincoln City, they face a Macclesfield side rooted to the bottom of the table, but they lost their first game this season, at home, this weekend just gone.
Prutton said: “Macclesfield haven’t quite got going yet on their return to the Football League and are still without a win in seven games, picking up just two draws so far. Lincoln’s electric start to the season came to a shuddering and unexpected halt last week at home to Crawley, but I fancy them to get back on the horse this weekend. Away win.”
We’re not so sure on either. He’s got Lincoln winning 3-1, they may sneak a result up there but there’s a feeling that maybe, just maybe, there’s still work to do at Sincil Bank.
As for Peterborough, this is their first real test of the season and whilst they’ve looked solid enough, Portsmouth are getting better every week. This has draw written all over it.
