Crewe’s 20-year old attacker Charlie Kirk is loving life at Gresty Road at the moment, as his side find their feet in League Two.
Carrying on from the end of last season he has hit six goals in his last 17 games, as well as providing three assists this season alone. He got one of each as Macclesfield were beaten 3-0, a result which delighted the exciting youngster.
“It was good to get the win first and foremost but it was also good to get on the score sheet a well,” he told the club website. “The gaffer is always on to me to create and score goals. He is always saying that is what I am in the team for, so I just see it as my job. That is what I am in the team to do.”
Crewe have been in solid form at home, but have lost three away without scoring and that is what Kirk knows they have to address.
“Our home form has been decent but we haven’t managed to pick up a point or score a goal away. I think we deserved at least a point at Newport and Carlisle and we could even have won them both. We create chances but didn’t take them.”
Crewe have got it sorted at home, they’re an effective attacking unit and hit Morecambe for six.
Away it is a different story they were hit for six themselves against Carlisle.
Once they find a balance then they’ll be fine, but with exciting young players like Kirk coming through, the future does look brighter at Gresty Road.
