Rochdale manager Keith Hill was delighted with Zach Clough after he got off to a scoring start on his Rochdale debut.
The on-loan Forest striker made his first appearance for Dale as they beat Bury 2-1 in the EFL trophy at Spotland, and Hill was delighted with his player’s introduction to the side.
That’s what we’ve brought him in for,” he told the club’s official site. “He shows great movement, he never looks uncomposed, he’s got great vision, he has an awareness about the opponent as well as his team mates and he knows where the goal is.”
The former Bolton striker found himself frozen out under Aitor Karanka, not even given a squad number for the new season. He completed a loan move last week and has immediately impressed his new employer.
Hill has previously described the 23-year old as a ‘marquee signing’, a player who is perhaps too good for League One.
Our View
I like Rochdale, they play the game the right way and have spent a long while punching well above their weight.
To capture a player like Clough is ridiculous, he’s a real prospect and shouldn’t have been frozen out at Forest.
His goals will be vital for Dale this season. Marquee signing indeed.
