Keith Hill has secured the signature of Liverpool defender Connor Randall on loan until January 2019.
The 22-year old has previously been with Shrewsbury and most recently Heart of Midlothian in Scotland. Primarily a right back, he can operate in midfield as well, so brings versatility to the Spotland side.
“When I heard about the move I was keen to come over and get it done,” he told Rochdale’s official site. “It’s gone quite quickly, so I’m very happy to get it completed. Hopefully, whilst I’m here I can impress and get as much game time as possible.”
Randall has been with the Reds since the age of six and made his premier League debut in 2015 against Bournemouth. He’s made a total of eight appearances for the Champions League runners-up, but didn’t appear last season at all.
He did turn out 27 times for Hearts, 24 of which came in the Scottish Premier division as they finished 6th. He also has England honours, having been capped at U17 level.
This looks to be a good move all round, the player has clearly lost his way a little having not played for Liverpool for a couple of years, so some regular football will help him immensely.
He was solid for Hearts last season, so it will be interesting to see how he settles in League One. If he does start to fulfil that early potential, he could be an astute signing by Hill.
