Kevin Nolan is aware of the threat posed by this weekend’s opponents Newport County, as reported on the Notts County official site.
Nolan is looking to bounce his team back from the humiliating 4-0 defeat against Yeovil on Frdiay night, but it won’t be easy against a side that recruited well in the summer.
“Newport do the right stuff,” said the former Bolton player. “They’re very good on set pieces – they get the ball in the box and try to hurt you. They’re a very good home side – it’s a major part of their season. People struggle when they go there.”
County are struggling themselves as they look to live up to the pre-season billing of division favourites and Nolan knows his side need to respect the opposition.
“We’ve got to respect all that and we’ll be telling the lads about all their strengths in the next 24 hours to make sure they’re ready for the attacking threat they pose.”
The Magpies are 21st in the early league table, whilst the Exiles are 18th.
Our View
Notts need a good result, one way or another. It’s been a tough opening few games for Nolan and the pressure is on after some big money signings.
As for Newport, they too are looking to take a step up, from mid table to play off contenders. This should be a cracker.
