Kyle Kennealey is a writer for The Real EFL. He has been with the site since October 2023, combining writing with podcasting and now match previews on YouTube.

Professional Background

Kyle began his career in the industry as a teenager, writing for The Stacey West Blog, along with a local fanzine called ‘A City United’. Off the back of that, he began programme work for Lincoln City, continuing until it was discontinued. After undertaking work experience at the club, he held a position in the media department at Sincil Bank in the summer between Y12 and Y13. After starting university in September 2023, he joined The Real EFL and undertook programme work with Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, and recently Shrewsbury Town.

Role at The Real EFL

After starting university, Kyle began writing for The Real EFL in October 2023. While starting with articles, he appeared on the League Two podcast several times towards the end of the 23/24 campaign. After a short break over the summer, he returned to the site with new ownership, and has since written numerous page pieces, news articles and an exclusive with Gareth Ainsworth. At the end of 2024, he started doing match previews with Gary Hutchinson on YouTube.

Certifications and Education

Kyle attended Branston Community Academy and graduated with three A-Levels, including an A and a B. He is now a student at Sheffield Hallam University, in his second year of study, which he will complete in the summer of 2026.

Personal Insights

Kyle is an avid football fan, watching over 100 games a season over the last three years. This gives him a good insight into the direction of EFL football, which is heading towards a difficult place with rising ticket prices, potential introduction of new technology and numerous ownership issues. But the introduction of a football regulator should help combat these problems, keeping the game we all love in its purest form.
