Birmingham City vs Portsmouth: Prediction, Lineups, Odds and Betting Tips
Our 3 Predictions for Birmingham City vs Portsmouth
- 1st Prediction : Match To End In A Draw – 13/5
- 2nd Prediction : Both Teams To Score – Yes – 1/1
- 3rd Prediction : Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 7/10
First Prediction For Birmingham City vs Portsmouth – Match To End In A Draw – 13/5
No one likes to go into matches thinking they will be a draw, but it is quite hard to separate the two sides in this one. With neither really hitting any real consistency in both winning or losing, they are both near the bottom end of the table, and that should be enough to kick them into action.
But, as the records show, the draw does seem like the most possible outcome. At home, Birmingham City have drawn two of their five played, and on the road Portsmouth one better with three drawn games from the same amount played.
Both lost last weekend and a point apiece here will go some way to getting back on track.
Second Prediction For Birmingham City vs Portsmouth – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 1/1
This also does not inspire too much hope, as both teams are struggling in front of goal which leads to their league position being so low. At home The Blues have managed seven of their 11 total and that is under a goal a game average overall. Similarly Pompey are not lighting up the scoreboards around the country as on the road they have managed just four of their 10 so far. It is though a hope that their defences may let them down again and allow the goal tally to raise by at the very least one each, Birmingham have conceded 15, and their visitors 13 overall.
Third Prediction For Birmingham City vs Portsmouth – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 7/10
Given the two predictions above we should not expect lots of goals in this game, even if one team does eventually emerge victorious. With both sides averaging under a goal a game, it doesn’t bode well for lots of excitement. Portsmouth will keep things tight, they do not get swamped by teams. Granted they only have three wins, two less than they have lost, but the draws are keeping them afloat, so a tight game will go in their favour. Birmingham do have a slight upper hand in the scoring charts, but only by one over their visitors. They too have a plan of keeping games close, but with only one win in their last six played, they too will be happy with getting at least a point, but to do so they will have to be tight at the back. This shows that with no real attacking intent it will be a low scoring game.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results and Head to Head
The pressure is on Chris Davies, as Birmingham City are starting to slide down the table after a reasonable start to the season. They draw too many games and need to convert more chances. They do have the capability, and individual ability to take games to teams, but it has been lacking so far. They still rely heavily on the talent of Jay Stansfield and his five goals shows he is still sharp at this level, but if is misfiring it is hard to see where the goals come from, despite having five other players hitting at least one. At the back Christoph Klarer, Ethan Laird, and Phil Neumann are the mainstays and so far have been doing a good job, but a lack of clean sheets will be a concern going forward.
Portsmouth were always going to be one of the teams that were tipped for relegation, such is the nature of the Championship and so many teams that believe they should be playing at a higher level. But why not Pompey too, they have played their trade at the highest level and after a season against the odds last year they are better equipped this time around. John Mousinho has his side competing in most games, and like their hosts here just need to be more ruthless in front of goal to turn draws into wins. Connor Chaplin is leading the line, and Colby Bishop will give plenty of support, but with only one goal between them it is clear to see where the problem is. 19 year old South Korean Yang Min-Hyeok could be the key player, his energy from midfield is making him a fan favourite and his one goal and two assists will keep defences on their toes.
