Leyton Orient will hope to dent Lincoln City’s League One promotion hopes when they welcome the Imps to the BetWright Stadium on Saturday.
Our Three Predictions For Leyton Orient vs Lincoln City
- First Prediction: Lincoln City – Draw No Bet – 1/1
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 8/11
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 19/20
First Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Lincoln City – Lincoln City – Draw No Bet – 1/1
After losing in last season’s play-off final, it’s been a disappointing first quarter of the campaign for Leyton Orient. They currently sit 15th in League One but are just a single point above the relegation places.
Much of this is down to their recent form, where the O’s have lost 4 of their last 5 league games. The only positive from this run is an emphatic 4-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers in their previous home outing. That win was their first at Brisbane Road since beating Wigan Athletic in early August.
Lincoln sit sixth in the table but it’s incredibly tight at the top and they are just 2 points off leaders Cardiff City. They head into this fixture having picked up a 1-0 win over previous table toppers Stevenage last weekend and in a run of excellent form on the road.
The Imps haven’t lost an away game since a 2-0 reverse at AFC Wimbledon in their second game of the season. They have since picked up victories over Northampton Town, Burton Albion and Peterborough United, whilst also securing a 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers.
Second Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Lincoln City – Both Teams To Score – 8/11
Despite their lowly position, Leyton Orient are one of the division’s highest scorers. Seven of their 13 league games have seen both teams score, although a 4-0 win and a 1-0 defeat in their last 2 games has lowered this somewhat. Prior to that, the O’s scored and conceded in 5 successive games.
Lincoln do rank low in this market, mainly because they have proven so tough to break down. Furthermore, only one of their away outings this season has hit this marker, although they will have their work cut out against Richie Wellens‘ side.
The Imps will be confident they can find the back of the net, especially as they’ve only failed to do so twice in all competitions. However, with 20 goals in 13 games, Orient will feel the same.
Third Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Lincoln City – Over 2.5 Goals – 19/20
Again, a prediction aimed more at the home side than the away one. Only Bradford City have been involved in more games that have featured 3 or more goals than Leyton Orient. The O’s have hit this figure in 62% of their outings so far, which rises to 80% in their last 5 games.
Lincoln are again ranked low in this market, with just 33% of their games being high scoring affairs. They have however achieved this twice in their last 4, with a 3-1 and 3-0 win over Luton Town and Peterborough United respectively. Still, if Michael Skubala’s team are looking to pick up another maximum points haul, it’s likely they’re going to need to score at least twice.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
Leyton Orient were just 90 minutes away from Championship football last season but now find themselves in an early fight to avoid the drop to League Two. Having lost 4 of their last 5, they sit just a point above the relegation places.
It’s their defensive line which has been an issue. Although they scored 2 and 3 times against Stevenage and Cardiff City in recent weeks, they still ended up losing both games. However, a 4-0 win over Doncaster Rovers in their last home game provided a huge confidence boost.
Richie Wellens will be hoping a return to Brisbane Road will help them recover from last weekend’s 1-0 reverse at Rotherham United.
Lincoln have enjoyed an incredibly strong season so far and only the form of others keeps them outside the automatic promotion places. The Imps currently sit sixth but are just 2 points off leaders Cardiff.
It may be a case of ‘what might have been’ for Michael Skubala though. He watched his side fall to a first league defeat since August against Exeter City prior to the most recent international break. It was a game which Lincoln dominated but fell to the ultimate smash-and-grab when the Grecians bagged a 94th minute winner.
Having had two weeks to reflect on that, the East Midlands-based outfit picked up a huge win last weekend. Welcoming then-leaders Stevenage to the LNER Stadium, a Rob Street effort was enough to hand them the 3 points.
The same fixture at Brisbane Road last season was an exciting one, with Orient emerging with a 3-2 victory. That halted a run of 3 successive Lincoln wins and was the first time the O’s had beaten the Imps since 2004.
Overall, there isn’t much to separate the pair over the years. Orient edge the head-to-head record with 23 wins, although Lincoln are just one behind on 22. They’ve also played out 18 draws.
