Preston North End vs Sheffield United: Predictions, Lineups, Odds and Betting Tips

Our 3 Predictions for Preston North End vs Sheffield United

  • 1st Prediction : Preston North End To Win – 2/1
  • 2nd Prediction : Both Teams To Score – Yes – 11/10
  • 3rd Prediction : Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 6/4

First Prediction For Preston North End vs Sheffield United – Preston North End To Win – 2/1

Preston North End have slipped in recent games, but are still a top ten team. Their home record has also dipped with now just three wins from six, but just one loss, so still hard to break down on home soil. Sheffield United are now showing signs of life, and their midweek win at Blackburn Rovers made it two wins on the spin. Their away record does not make good reading still after the poor start but two wins now in six will give them a glimmer of hope in this match. Preston will want to get back to winning ways before their fine start becomes a memory.

Second Prediction For Preston North End vs Sheffield United – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 11/10

The Blades were struggling for goals and now cannot stop scoring. A late burst of three secured a win on Tuesday night, to back up their single goal win last weekend. Overall they have managed just seven, with four on the road, but with form turning the goals are coming and the Preston defence can be got at. With 10 conceded overall they are top half because they have just about outscored teams with 12 in total and seven of those at Deepdale. With both in need of valuable points, this game should provide lots of goalmouth action, and the scoreboard lit up by both teams.

Third Prediction For Preston North End vs Sheffield United – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 6/4

So, with both sides having mixed fortunes of late, and also scoring more regularly, this does seem like a game that the goals will flow. Again, Preston have scored seven at home while conceding four in their six games at home. United goals for column was bolstered with their late show on Tuesday, and now have four on the road, but still have a bad record defensively with nine let in and 17 overall. Having only conceded once in the last two games the corner is being turned, but they are still a team that can be vulnerable.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results and Head to Head

What a difference a week makes. Losses at West Bromwich Albion, and then Birmingham City, have seen Paul Heckingbottom’s side slip down to 10th. The downward trajectory will be a concern, but they have a chance to arrest that in this game. A game that will not be easy against a rejuvenated Sheffield United side that bring consecutive wins with them. Jordan Storey has been the most consistent player and the 28 year old defender will ned to continue his fine start to the season to keep the Blades at bay. In midfield Ben Whiteman will need to keep the engine running, and up front the manager will demand more output from Daniel Jebbison. A win is much needed for North End, and they may just have the edge if the home crowd stay with them.

Chris Wilder will be full of life on the sideline at the start of this game. Off the back of a thrilling 3-1 win at Blackburn his United side have played their way out of the bottom three with three wins in the last five games, and could well pull another one out the bag here. This will be a tough test though, and the emotion of winning two games in four days could take its toll, even when riding the wave you have to crash at some point. With a defence playing better with more organisation, they may well use that as their stepping stone to more success. Mark McGuniess and Japhet Tanganga lead the way at the back, and are taking Wilder’s vision forward. Up front they have not had much to shout about but they are improving and depth on the bench could be needed, as it was Harrison Burrows that inflicted the damage on Tuesday with a goal and assist off the bench to win the game.
