West Bromwich Albion vs Preston North End: Predictions, Lineups, and Odds (18/10)

An important Championship fixture, as West Bromwich Albion aim to climb the table as they host high flying Preston North End. Not much to choose between the two so far, and that may well be the case at the end of this game.

Our Three Predictions For West Bromwich Albion v Preston North End

Prediction 1 – Match To End In A Draw – 5/2

Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 11/10

Prediction 3 – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 8/13

First Prediction For West Bromwich Albion v Preston North End – Match To End In A Draw – 5/2

The top of the Championship is as expected, a very close affair. There are a couple of teams that are starting to show signs of a true run at automatic promotion, but as of yet it is neither of these. It could be though and both do have the potential. West Bromwich Albion showed good form early on and at home the have only lost once, and have two draws from their opening four games. Preston North End are closer to the top, in fourth place, and have the same record on the road as their host do at home. Two teams trying not to lose ground on those above them, means that both will not want to lose. Expect a tight game that will end in honours even.

Second Prediction For West Bromwich Albion v Preston North End – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 11/10

You don’t place in seventh without scoring a few goals and WBA average a goal a game so far, but have only managed three at home. A marked improvement will have to occur if they want to make a solid challenge at the top. Preston have score 11 overall, fairing a little better than their hosts, but have only managed four away, the same number they have conceded, so both have tight defences, given West Brom’s three conceded at home. Both should get through the others defence, but it will not be multiple times.

Third Prediction For West Bromwich Albion v Preston North End – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 8/13

As suggested above this will not be a goal fest. The defences are as tight, and as of yet neither have yet to set the scoreboard alight. With a low scoring draw looking like a decent bet, this will add great value to a treble. Look at the stats again, WBA have scored just nine while conceding one more than that. Preston are proving an enigma as they are so high without scoring many, 11 with seven let in. These two are not in a habit of playing high scoring games, and that trend will not be broken here.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Ryan Mason is building a team that is hard to beat, the problem is when that fails they also find it hard to pick up wins. With only one win in the last five they have dropped away from the top spots, and could be in danger of slipping further down the table if they don’t get some positive results soon. Isaac Price leads the scoring charts on the team with three goals, and also has one assist to his name. Six other players have score once, and where that might be good to share the load, it is not happening often enough. A tight defence does help and Nathaniel Phillips is doing a good job leading that line, as well as being one of the six other scorers.

Preston North End are enjoying a great spell. Unbeaten in the last five and coming off a great 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic. Paul Heckingbottom has his side up into fourth spot, and could well improve on that over this weekend, but this will be a tough away day as they have only one road trip win against their name so far. Young attacker Lewis Dobbin is performing consistently, with a goal and two assists so far. Benjamin Whiteman is one of five ever present players, and his defensive midfield displays have been one of the reasons Preston have improved steadily in the early going.
