Our Three Predictions For Cardiff City v Reading

Prediction 1 – Cardiff City Win – 8/15

Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – No – 21/20

Prediction 3 – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 11/10

First Prediction For Cardiff City v Reading – Cardiff City Win – 8/15

This is one of those games that jumps out as a certain home win, but given the way some results have gone recently in League One, there is no such thing. The statistics do lean the way of a win for Cardiff City though. Having won four of their six home matches they are getting a decent return on home soil. Away from home Reading are yet to win, and that is a contributing factor to their 21st league position. They have picked up points on the road though, with four draws from six trips, but after a week off their hosts will be rejuvenated and ready to kick on after two losses in three which has seen them slip from the top of the early standings.

Second Prediction For Cardiff City v Reading – Both Teams To Score – No – 21/20

At home Cardiff have conceded eight times, so just over a goal a game, but they do have one of the leagues best defences, as they have only let in one time on the road. So, a clean sheet is long overdue, as they have not had one in the last four home games. On the flip side Reading have scored seven times in their half a dozen away games, so do have a favourable shout of keeping up their average, but with only two in the last three games, and against a team out to reset the marker they laid early on, this may be a game where the visitors are held to a blank on the scoreboard.

Third Prediction For Cardiff City v Reading – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 11/10

If, as predicted, Reading are indeed kept from scoring, it will mean that Cardiff will have to pick up the slack to make sure these odds are decent. Do not expect too many fireworks from the Welsh side though, despite a total of 19 goals in 11. At home they have managed 14 in six, so with those figures in mind they should be able to keep the average up of around two goals. This means they will not be pushed into a scenario where they have to score four times to win, as they did recently at home against Leyton Orient. Slow and steady wins the day here for Cardiff, and also for this particular gamble.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Sitting in a comfortable third place, there is a lot to be happy about for Cardiff City. Most teams would take that, but with a dip in form before the International break, boss Brian Barry-Murphy will be keen to get his team back on top as soon as possible. So, maybe a home game against a team in the relegation spots is just good timing, Not that anyone will be taking anything for granted. Ruben Colwill is still playing at a high level, and driving this forward. His three goals and as many assists will put a target on his back, so it is useful to have good players around him. Chris Willock and Callum Robinson are proving useful in that respect. Defensively 19 year old Dylan Lawlor is still the pick of the bunch, and playing beyond his years.

Reading are actually undefeated in their last five across all competitions, and this will please Noel Hunt. The manager did not have a lot to smile about in the first couple of months but with that form, a corner may well be being turned. To get something from Cardiff will be another boost, but Hunt will also be wary that it is a game that could go dramatically wrong if they do not approach in the right way. No wins away, and struggling for goals overall, does not bode well, but evergreen Jack Marriott has five to his name, and should he find the target again they may well pinch a fifth draw on the road. It is more likely that Portuguese goalkeeper Joel Pereira will see a lot of action though and he will have to be at his best.
