Bradford City will look to continue their strong start to life in League One when they welcome Barnsley to Valley Parade on Saturday.
Our Three Predictions For Bradford City vs Barnsley
- First Prediction: Bradford City To Win – 10/11
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 8/15
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 13/10
First Prediction For Bradford City vs Barnsley – Bradford City To Win – 10/11
Bradford have enjoyed a phenomenal return to League One, losing just once in their opening 11 games. That came on the road against Doncaster Rovers but they’ve won all 5 of their outings at Valley Parade.
The likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town, AFC Wimbledon, Huddersfield Town and Blackpool have all travelled to Yorkshire and left with nothing and the Bantams will be confident they can extend that here. With league leaders Stevenage facing a tough trip to Lincoln City on Saturday lunchtime, there is a very real possibility that Graham Alexander’s team could be top of the pile by the end of the day.
Barnsley sit eighth after 10 games but are winless from their last 3. Their away form has also been poor as of late and they’ve not won on the road since a 1-0 victory over struggling Peterborough United in August.
Since then, the Tykes have tasted defeat against AFC Wimbledon and Blackpool before drawing 2-2 with Wycombe at the beginning of this month. All signs point to a home win.
Second Prediction For Bradford City vs Barnsley – Both Teams To Score – 8/15
Although Bradford have been incredibly strong this season, they rarely keep a clean sheet. Nine of their 11 league games have seen both teams score, representing 82% of their fixtures thus far. This is a feat only matched by Mansfield Town.
From their 5 matches at Valley Parade, only Blackpool have failed to find the back of the net. However, the only team to stop the Bantams scoring is Northampton Town, when the two teams played out a 0-0 draw at Sixfields in early August.
Barnsley are also one of League One’s highest ranked teams in this market, with 60% of their fixtures seeing both teams score. Although this drops to 40% when on their travels, they did score twice in their recent trip to Wycombe.
Conor Hourihane’s team have scored 16 times this season, although have conceded 14.
Third Prediction For Bradford City vs Barnsley – Over 2.5 Goals – 13/10
Just like the both teams to score market, Bradford lead the way when it comes to games that have seen 3 goals or more 73% of their outings thus far have been high scoring affairs, which accounts for 8 of their 11 fixtures.
This figure increases to 80% at Valley Parade though. The only game to fall under this marker was a 1-0 win over Blackpool at the end of September.
Barnsley are middle of the road in the statistics here, with 50% of their games seeing over 2.5 goals. Although this does drop slightly to 40% when they’re away from Oakwell, it’s their opponents antics in front of both goals which make this an intriguing option at over evens.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
Bradford surprised everyone with their start to the season but they show no signs that their early form was nothing more than a honeymoon period. A 2-1 opening day victory over Wycombe Wanderers set the tone, although a 0-0 draw at Northampton Town a week later was perhaps where many expected them to be.
The Bantams followed that with 2-1 wins over two promotion favourites in Luton Town and Stockport County to show they were serious about the challenge ahead. Their corresponding 8 fixtures have seen them emerge victorious 5 times, beating AFC Wimbledon (3-2), Huddersfield Town (3-1), Cardiff City (3-1) and Blackpool (1-0).
Barnsley started the campaign well, picking up maximum points against Plymouth Argyle (3-1) and Burton Albion (3-2). They dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers at Oakwell but recovered to beat Peterborough United 1-0 immediately after.
A 2-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon was disappointing although the Tykes then recorded back-to-back home victories over Huddersfield Town (3-1) and Reading (3-2). Form has been sketchy since though, losing against Blackpool (1-0) and Port Vale (2-0) before a 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers last time out.
There’s plenty of history in this fixture although this will be the first league meeting between the pair since 2019. Bradford did pick up a 5-1 win in the EFL Trophy in 2023, although Barnsley did win the 5 games prior to that. The Bantams last recorded a league victory against their Yorkshire rivals in 2015 when they won 1-0 at Valley Parade.
Overall, the Tykes edge the head-to-head record, winning 41 of the previous 110 clashes. Bradford have 38 victories whilst there has been 31 draws.
