Our 3 Predictions For Accrington Stanley vs Swindon Town:

  • 1st Prediction For Accrington Stanley vs Swindon Town: Match Result – Accrington Stanley – 19/20
  • 2nd Prediction For Accrington Stanley vs Swindon Town: Over 2.5 Goals – 19/20
  • 3rd Prediction For Accrington Stanley vs Swindon Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes – 4/5

1st Prediction For Accrington Stanley vs Swindon Town: Match Result – Accrington Stanley – 19/20

On their own patch this season, only Newport County have picked up fewer points than Accrington’s 5. Last weekend, the Exiles inflicted another defeat on John Doolan’s outfit, their second loss on the bounce after starting the campaign three games unbeaten. While two of those results were draws, they came against promotion-chasing sides, which will be the hope again this weekend for Stanley.

No side in the fourth tier have won more away games this season than the Robins, 4, though they did have a rare defeat on the road at Salford City in September. But Swindon quickly put that right with another victory away from Wiltshire, their fourth in 5 games. And across all venues this season, Ian Holloway’s side have won 8 of their 11 fixtures, placing them second in League Two.

Therefore, it is hard to see past anything other than an away win this Saturday afternoon.

2nd Prediction For Accrington Stanley vs Swindon Town: Over 2.5 Goals – 19/20

Yet to score a goal in October, Stanley are on a run of three games without finding the back of the net since Charlie Caton scored an injury-time consolation against leaders Walsall. But Caton was also on target to net the eventual winner against Milton Keynes Dons. Four goals on home soil is the lowest scoring tally in League Two this season.

That doesn’t bode well for Accy when Swindon are the side in the fourth tier with the most goals away from home. Twice have the Robins netted 3 times in away encounters this season, while their tally is 12 thus far. Expect goals to be plentiful, but likely in one direction.

3rd Prediction For Accrington Stanley vs Swindon Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes – 4/5

While Accy have struggled infront of goal, they are much better defensively with a top-half record. Conceding only 6 times in as many games, there are only 5 League Two sides with a better record than that this campaign. But, 4 of those 6 goals against have come in their last two home encounters.

Fortunately for Accrington, Swindon have been susceptible to leaking goals this season. While keeping 2 clean sheets from their 6 encounters away from home, 3 of their 7 goals came away at Salford City. With that in mind, expect both teams to find themselves on the scoresheet this Saturday.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Following successive wins in September, Accrington’s progress has slowed dramatically. Their latest loss on Saturday against Newport County sees them a point off the bottom of League Two. All 4 sides below Stanley in the fourth tier standings managed a positive result last weekend, while Accy slipped to a fourth loss in a row in all competitions.

Losing to Barnet at the start of October, Accrington were defeated by Port Vale in the Vertu Trophy by Port Vale, knocking them out of the competition. Gainsborough Trinity are Stanley’s next cup opponents at the start of November in the FA Cup 1st Round. But, before that, local rivals Fleetwood Town are up next, before facing Tranmere Rovers at the end of the month.

As far as Swindon are concerned, they could hardly have asked for a better start to the season. Eight wins from 11 have left them two points off the top of League Two, with a game in hand after last weekend’s game against Notts County was called off. Successive wins without conceding against Newport County and Bromley have provided the perfect response to their crushing defeat at Salford City.

The Robins netted 3 times against Reading (EFL Trophy), Barrow and Harrogate Town at the start of September. Swindon still have three games to play this month, all at home. The rearranged game against Notts County and Colchester United are next up, before cup football returns with games against West Ham United U21’s and Rotherham United.

The head-to-head record couldn’t be closer between the 2 sides, with 5 wins each from 13 meetings. Accrington, though, hold the better record in recent times, with an unbeaten run of 4 games, winning 4 of the last 7 fixtures in all competitions. That includes stalemates in both League Two meetings last season, while Stanley won the FA Cup 2nd Round meeting on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
