Bolton Wanderers have their sights set on a spot in the League One Play-Off places when they are the visitors to the Pirelli Stadium to face Burton Albion.
Our Three Predictions For Burton Albion vs Bolton Wanderers:
- First Prediction For Burton Albion vs Bolton Wanderers: Match Result – Bolton Wanderers – 4/6
- Second Prediction For Burton Albion vs Bolton Wanderers: Under 2.5 Goals – 19/20
- Third Prediction For Burton Albion vs Bolton Wanderers: Both Teams To Score – No – 21/20
First Prediction For Burton Albion vs Bolton Wanderers: Match Result – Bolton Wanderers – 4/6
After beating another struggling side, Peterborough United, last weekend, Bolton should be confident of collecting another three points at the Pirelli Stadium. But, the Trotters are yet to win away from Lancashire, losing for the second time this season last weekend at Northampton Town. Three successive draws have left Steven Schumacher looking for his first away win of the season, but they face a side with the worst home record in the third tier. Burton have only picked up four points on their own patch this season, and they came in the first two matches of the campaign. Three successive home losses leaves them with a similarly torrid record. So, expect Bolton to finally win on the road and continue the Brewers’ dismal home record.
Second Prediction For Burton Albion vs Bolton Wanderers: Under 2.5 Goals – 19/20
With only three goals away from home, Burton won’t be expected to trouble the Brewers’ backline too much, though they have sixteen across all venues this term. But they have conceded seven times, a much better record compared with their fellow League One sides. Burton have nine goals against at home, the second-highest figure in the division, while their two goals at the other end is the worst record in the third tier. With that in mind, expect a low-scoring encounter this weekend in East Staffordshire.
Third Prediction For Burton Albion vs Bolton Wanderers: Both Teams To Score – No – 21/20
These two teams have a tight head-to-head record in the ten years since they first met, with Burton edging it with five wins to four. But since the Brewers won the first four competitive meetings, they have only one victory in nine, and Bolton are unbeaten in the last six fixtures. In each of those games, both teams have found the scoresheet in five of the last six games, but this time it is expected to be different. After the Trotters won both games two-one last season, they should have a slightly easier afternoon on Saturday.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
Burton Albion have responded from a difficult start to the season with two impressive away performances in the past week. Finishing a place above the relegation zone in the past two seasons, the Brewers have picked up a reputation as the great escape experts thanks to their incredible end-of-season form. But with Gary Bowyer in charge, they were expected to set their sights a little higher than just above the bottom four this term. That hadn’t quite materialised in the opening two months of the season, despite beating Mansfield Town on the opening day. After twice leading at Barnsley, a stoppage-time David McGoldrick winner for the Tykes was a devastating end at Oakwell. A further point against newly-promoted Port Vale was also disappointing, given that George Byers was dismissed for the Valiants only a quarter of an hour into the Staffordshire derby. After their Carabao Cup tie at Tranmere Rovers was initially postponed due to an electrical failure in the Birkenhead area, Burton eventually prevailed on penalties a week later.
But that started a poor run of form for the Staffordshire outfit, losing at Stockport County. Again facing ten men after Brad Hills was sent off, Udoka Godwin-Malife had given the away side the lead, but the Hatters eventually turned the game around in the second period. Two home games in a week saw Burton exit the League Cup thanks to a late Lincoln City winner, before suffering a heavy home defeat at the hands of Luton Town. Despite beating Liverpool U21’s in their next match, the Brewers would fail to score in their next three games. Following another narrow defeat to the Imps, Burton became the first side to deny Huddersfield Town three points at home, while collecting their first point on the road. A heavy home defeat against Plymouth Argyle left the Brewers bottom, but they shocked Cardiff City away from home with a late Charlie Webster winner. And last Saturday, Burton took a point at Doncaster Rovers to move closer to safety. The Brewers play Chesterfield in the EFL Trophy, before
hosting fellow strugglers Peterborough United, and travelling to AFC Wimbledon to end October.
At the other end of the table, Bolton are pushing themselves into Play-Off contention, after being expected to challenge for automatic promotion this term. After successive relegations to League Two at the end of the last decade, the Trotters have finished no lower than ninth since returning to the third tier at the first time of asking. Two failed Play-Off campaigns have left Bolton supporters desperate for Championship football, but their season hasn’t begun in the best fashion. While only the top two have lost fewer games than Bolton, five draws have frustrated Steven Schumacher, who won the title with Plymouth Argyle in 2023. And his new team recorded their first win of the campaign against the Pilgrims, after losing at Stockport County on the opening weekend. Goals from skipper Eoin Toal and summer signing Mason Burstow gave them the win, before a thrilling midweek draw eventually ended in a penalty defeat against Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup. John McAtee rescued a point against his former side Barnsley, before they were denied three points by a late midweek Reading equaliser.
But it was quickly their turn to experience a late leveller against Lincoln City. Despite trailing for 96 minutes at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, an own goal from the Imps gave Bolton a dramatic point. For the fifth successive game, the Trotters drew against Blackpool, finally ending that run with a Vertu Trophy victory over Rotherham United. Their task against AFC Wimbledon was made much easier when the Dons were reduced to ten men, with Bolton going on to ease to a three-nil win. Amario Cozier-Duberry’s stunning strike rescued a point in the capital at Leyton Orient, before there was finally joy for the Trotters against local rivals Wigan Athletic on their home turf. Marcus Forss scored twice on his home debut in an eventual four-one hammering of the Latics. With another EFL trophy victory over Manchester City U21’s effectively sealing their progress to the knockout stages, they ended September by losing to Northampton Town. Last Saturday, Burstow’s brace was enough to see off Peterborough United. Thursday night action against Huddersfield Town is next up for the Trotters, before hosting high-flying Cardiff City.
