Our Three Predictions For Leyton Orient vs Bolton Wanderers:

  • First Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Bolton Wanderers: Match Result – Bolton Wanderers – 21/20
  • Second Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Bolton Wanderers: Over 2.5 Goals – 3/4
  • Third Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Bolton Wanderers: Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/5

First Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Bolton Wanderers: Match Result – Bolton Wanderers – 21/20

Bolton are unbeaten across all competitions since the opening day of the season, avoiding defeat in their last eight games. While their final four matches in August all ended in one-all draws, Wanderers have won both of their fixtures this month. Leyton Orient are level on points with their opponents on Saturday afternoon, though the makeup of their results is completely different. A dramatic win at Port Vale was the perfect response to successive defeats, meaning the O’s join Bolton just outside the Play-Off places in the early season standings in the third tier. Promotion is the ultimate aim for both this season, but expect the side tipped to finish higher, Bolton, to edge this encounter.

Second Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Bolton Wanderers: Over 2.5 Goals – 3/4

Orient may have had a steady start to the season, but Richie Wellens will be concerned with his side’s defensive record thus far. Only three teams have conceded more than the O’s twelve, the only team inside the top fourteen sides in the standings to have a negative goal difference. Both teams have scored nine times in their opening seven fixtures, but Bolton have conceded half as many times as their opponents this weekend. The Trotters’ six goals against is bettered only by four teams in the division, so while goals should be expected this weekend, expect Bolton to remain solid defensively.

Third Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Bolton Wanderers: Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/5

A game like the final meeting of the 20th century, which ended in a fabulous 4-4 draw, would certainly be welcomed this weekend. Two decades passed before the two met again, with Bolton having the clear advantage in recent times by winning four of the last six encounters. In three of those last four games, both sides have found themselves on the scoresheet. With both teams solid going forward, expect more of the same in two days time.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Orient came desperately close to ending their second tier exile last term, and will have to do it all again if they are hoping for another tilt at promotion. The beaten Play-Off finalists will be eager to avoid that path if it is an option, but the supporters will have little impact in where they finish, and another appearance in the end-of-season competition would represent a sustianed prescence. The O’s returned to regular season football with a heavy opening day loss against Huddersfield Town, though the reponse since has been impressive. Beating Wigan Athletic seven days later, Wycombe Wanderers then required a slick of fortune in the shape of a last-minute own goal winner against Orient in Round One of the Carabao Cup. In a repeat of the Play-Off Semi-Final, it was again ended level between Leyton Orient and Stockport, thanks to Ollie O’Neill’s late goal. Only one goal decided the midweek encouneter at Plymouth Argyle, and it appeared that the East London outfit were capabale of putting a run of results together.

As it transpired, Richie Wellens’ side were soundly beaten at Mansfield Town four one, before falling to a surprising loss against Northampton Town. Orient swept Vertu Trophy winners Peterborough United aside in the Group Stage of the competition, before Wellens’ son Charlie scored the most dramatic of winners at Vale Park just last weekend. Josh Koroma has been among the most exciting of captures for the O’s, with Aaron Connolly also providing flare. Loanees Tommy Simkim (Stoke City), and Tayo Adaramola (Crystal Palace) will look to further tighten up a leaky defence, while the likes Michael Craig (Reading) and Idris El Mizouni (Oxford United) will control the middle of the park. Dom Ballard is a striker signed from Southampton, with Demetri Mitchell playing just behind him in the O’s attack. Hugely talented midfielder Ethan Galbraith left a sizeable hole in midfield after leaving for Swansea City, while Jordan Brown departed for Blackpool in their two big summer losses.

Since losing at Stockport County on the opening weekend, Bolton have responded very well and they are starting to reap the rewards of a strong summer off the pitch. George Thomason was a big loss in the middle of the park, joining Wrexham, further outgoings were fairly limited. Ricardo Santos made the surprising step up to the second tier with Swansea City, joining goalkeepers Nathan Baxter (Watford) & Joel Coleman (Millwall), while Aaron Collins and Gethin Jones both moved to the ambitious MK Dons project in League Two. In came Ethan Erhahon, one of the best midfielders at this level with Lincoln City over the past two seasons. Thierry Gale (Rapid Vienna) and Xavier Simons (Hull City) both commanded fees, but have adapted very quickly to life in Lancashire. The loan market has unearthed some talent, with Marcus Forss (Middlesbrough), Amario Cozier-Duberry (Brighton & Hove Albion) & Mason Burstow (Hull City) adding firepower in attack, with Ted Sharman-Lowe inbetween the sticks.

Stockport were the highest finishers in League One last season to not win promotion, but Bolton shrugged that defeat off by beating former Championship opposition Plymouth Argyle the following weekend. There was then a thrilling Carabao Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday, that saw the home side thrice fightback from behind before ultimately bowing out on penalties. That began a run of five straight draws across all competitions, as former Barnsley man John McAtee haunted his ex-employers by netting a late equaliser against the Tykes. The following midweek, it was Reading who netted late on to salvage a point, before it was the Trotters turn again only a few days later. Lincoln City led after nineteen seconds, until Tom Hamer put through his own net in the seventh minute of stoppage time for a dramatic draw. And the run continued against Blackpool, as Burstow brough Bolton level on the hour. Into September, and Steven Schumacher’s side are yet to concede a goal. After defeating Rotherham United in the EFL Trophy, they put three past nine-man AFC Wimbledon without reply last weekend.
