Our Three Predictions For Coventry City vs Norwich City

  • First Prediction: Coventry City To Win – 13/20
  • Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 31/50
  • Third Prediction: Josh Sargent To Score Anytime – 5/2

First Prediction For Coventry City vs Norwich City – Coventry City To Win – 13/20

Coventry remain unbeaten in the Championship so far this season and will enter the game fifth in the table. They did drop points in their last outing before the international break when they drew 2-2 with Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium. However, there’s little doubt that the Sky Blues have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch in the country. One thing that they seem to guarantee at the moment is goals, having also recorded 7-1 and 5-3 victories over Queens Park Rangers and Derby County respectively. The former of those results was their last outing at the CBS Arena and they should have enough to get over the line against an inconsistent Norwich side.

The Canaries have won two and lost two of their opening four fixtures. Interestingly, both of those victories have come away from Carrow Road. They do still seem to be finding their feet a little under Liam Manning and although they are likely to push Coventry, it’s hard to see them getting anything out of this game.

Second Prediction For Coventry City vs Norwich City – Both Teams To Score – 31/50

Coventry may be free scoring, but they are also very liable at the back. They’ve conceded six times from their first four fixtures, with their only clean sheet coming against Hull City on the opening day. The Tigers left the CBS Arena with a 0-0 draw that day that may have been down to a bit of ring rust. The Sky Blues have certainly responded since then.

Although Norwich haven’t been as lethal as their opponents in front of goal, they are still finding the back of the net on a consistent basis. Possessing arguably the league’s best attacker in Josh Sargent, they have scored in every game this season whilst also keeping just the one clean sheet thus far.

Third Prediction For Coventry City vs Norwich City – Josh Sargent To Score Anytime – 5/2

Norwich’s best piece of business this summer was managing to keep hold of Josh Sargent. The Canaries underwhelmed last season but had one of the division’s most deadly attacks with the American alongside Borja Sainz. The latter made a move to FC Porto in July whilst Sargent came extremely close to returning to the Bundesliga. A transfer to Wolfsburg fell through, keeping the attacker at Carrow Road until at least January.

The 25-year-old scored 15 times last season and has started the new campaign in electric form. He has bagged in every game he has featured thus far, with six goals in five appearances in all competitions. He hit a brace in a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers last time out and he is likely to have similar success against Coventry’s leaky defence.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

There were huge question marks raised last season when Coventry opted to part company with the popular Mark Robins in favour of Frank Lampard. The former England international had seen his reputation take a hit after poor stints at Chelsea and Everton, but is fair to say that he has taken the Sky Blues up a notch. They have been one of the most entertaining teams in the country so far this season, although they began their campaign with a 0-0 home draw against Hull City. They followed that with a 5-3 win over Lampard’s former club Derby County before hammering Queens Park Rangers 7-1 in their first game at the CBS Arena after securing ownership of the stadium. They will have been disappointed to drop points against Oxford United last time out, but they did come from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw.

Norwich have been a funny team this season. They have lost both of their league games at Carrow Road, but have won both on the road. They started the season with a 2-1 defeat against Millwall but followed that by beating Portsmouth by the same scoreline at Fratton Park a week later. Another 2-1 home loss followed, this time to Middlesbrough, before a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park before the international break.

Norwich have by far the stronger record in this fixture in recent years. The Canaries haven’t tasted defeat against Coventry in the last 12 meetings, a run dating back to 2009. They won both clashes last season, although it is the Sky Blues that have the most victories overall. Despite their 16-year wait for a win over the East Anglians, Coventry have won 54 of the previous 130 meetings, whilst Norwich have won 40 and 36 have ended in a draw.
