Northampton Town will be looking to add a third straight victory to a turned-around League One campaign. Struggling Steve Bruce’s side are yet to win back-to-back matches in all competitions and have been underwhelming to say the least.
Blackpool are in dire need of a win and have only beaten Huddersfield Town so far this campaign. The high-flying Terriers were caught on a bad day, while the Seasiders have only accumulated four points in the league and were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Port Vale.
Our Three Predictions for Northampton Town vs Blackpool

First Prediction for Northampton Town vs Blackpool – Northampton Town to win 3/2
Northampton will be looking to capitalise on a healthy spell of form. Two wins over Exeter City and Leyton Orient have seen the Cobblers keep consecutive clean sheets while scoring three across both. The 2-0 victory against Exeter solidified their ambition to remain in the division for another season. As relegation candidates, and favourites for the drop, Town face a Blackpool outfit in a difficult predicament of performances and managerial fit at Bloomfield Road.
The Cobblers created four big chances against Orient and generally played Richie Wellens’ side off the park in their counter-attacking approach. The strength in defensive resilience was the clear standout in their second win of the season. Lee Burge made four saves for Kevin Nolan’s side, who are finally starting to come together as a proper League Two outfit this campaign.
Second Prediction for Northampton Town vs Blackpool – Max Dyche to score anytime – 14/1
Dyche has been an integral part of Nolan’s back line. The 22-year-old scored against Exeter and has taken four shots over the opening six matches. With just four starts, Dyche could be expected to add a second from a set piece situation, which has troubled Blackpool tremendously so far this campaign. This right-footed striker against City saw the centre-back convert a successful set piece and a 23rd-minute header missed the target just moments after the second goal.
The 22-year-old may be able to dominate the air against a defeated defence. Dyche is an aerial threat and wins approximately 61% of aerial duels. With an xG of 1.10, Dyche could score again after bagging against Exeter. At 14/1, this could be excellent value and a huge possible return.
Third Prediction for Northampton Town vs Blackpool – Under 2.5 goals 31/50
So far this season, Northampton have only seen this bet fail once. This was in an opening weekend loss to Wigan Athletic. This 3-1 defeat was followed by six successive under 2.5 goal-performances. Two wins against Exeter and Orient saw this bet land while Town secured all three points on both occasions.
Blackpool have not been the greatest offensively so far, despite seeing this bet fail to come in during a 3-2 win over Huddersfield. An opening weekend loss to Stevenage was followed by a 4-1 decimation from Exeter. However, excluding the Terriers performance, four games in all competitions have had under 2.5 goals scored.
The past three meetings between the two have had under 2.5 goals too. Blackpool won both of their last visits to Northampton, but had a 1-0 and 2-0 victory seeing this bet land. These came either side of a 0-0 stalemate.

An opening weekend loss to Stevenage – 3-2 – was followed up immediately by Exeter City’s huge win at home against the Tangerines. Steve Bruce’s side failed to bounce back in an EFL Cup clash with Port Vale. This 1-0 loss to the Valiants knocked Blackpool out in the first round, but a 3-2 win over Huddersfield offered some promise. Two away trips to Mansfield Town and Plymouth Argyle resulted in no goals scored and no points retrieved. Their latest result was a 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers.
Northampton lost 3-1 to Wigan to open their campaign, seeing a 0-0 draw against Bradford City the following weekend recover at least one point early on. The Cobblers were also knocked out in the first round of the Carabao Cup, with Southampton securing a 1-0 win. Stevenage and Lincoln City both enjoyed three-point performances against Town, with Nolan’s side failing to score on both occasions. Their first six points of the season came after victories and clean sheets against Leyton Orient and Exeter.
As aforementioned, the three most recent performances have seen Blackpool win two out of three head-to-heads. Prior to this, Northampton enjoyed a 2-1 win against the Seasiders during the away leg in the 2023/24 season.
