As perhaps expected the two sides that clash in this League One encounter have had different starts. Stockport County are starting to shows signs that make them a decent bet on promotion, whereas Plymouth Argyle have struggled in the first month.
Our Three Predictions For Plymouth Argyle v Stockport County
Prediction 1 – Stockport County To Win – 2/1
Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 3/4
Prediction 3 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/5
First Prediction For Plymouth Argyle v Stockport County – Stockport County To Win – 2/1
Plymouth Argyle did win their last home league game, and that may be a start of a revival in fortune in this early stage of the season. They have however won just that single game, leading them to start this match in 21st place. Home form will be key for Argyle to start to climb the table, and this is a bog test coming off the back of a 4-0 loss at Cardiff City last time out. Stockport County have not lost away from home in three games to open the new campaign, winning one and two draws. They are ranked sixth away in the early stage, and sit eighth overall, and a win at Plymouth will cement their claims of being real contenders for a shot at promotion.
Second Prediction For Plymouth Argyle v Stockport County – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 3/4
In the three away games so far Stockport have scored five times, while conceding three times, so they are not watertight yet, and that will give Plymouth some hope of gaining at least one goal. The hosts though have been leaking goals at every turn with a huge 13 conceded already and with the door as wide open as that statistic shows, there is every chance that once County get one the gates will be truly opened. That said they may be a little meaner after letting in four at Cardiff and harsh lessons learned. They do manage to score, but with only four in the opening six games it may be a consolation effort in what could be another high scoring game.
Third Prediction For Plymouth Argyle v Stockport County – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/5
With goals not in not so short supply so far there is a very good chance they will continue in this game. Stockport will be the team looking to make sure this bet is safe, with their 10 goals in six games they are trying to get their average up, and may well succeed. With seven goals conceded Plymouth have every chance of breeching the County goal, but they will have to be better in front of the net as they have only scored four times, but in what could be a free flowing game, the opportunity is there.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head
Tom Cleverley would have hoped for a better start to the season, but the reality is they only have one win form the six played in League One, and are shipping far too many goals. The improvement must start now, but this game is another tough test for his men. Xavier Amaechi will be looking to continue his good start to the season, with a goal and an assist to his name the 24 year old needs help from his teammates. Despite conceding far too many the defenders have been quite consistent in performances, and if Brendan Galloway, Bali Mumba, and Malachi Boateng can start to gel more then it could be a short matter of time before Lua Ashby-Hammond is spending less time picking the ball out of his goal.
Stockport County were tipped by many to have a good season, and with only one loss on the books so far, Dave Challinor has certainly got his side playing good consistent football. The loss was a 2-1 home reverse against fellow promotion hopefuls Bradford City, and it is those games that will be crucial. They will fancy themselves to gain all three points here, and Kyle Wootton has hit the ground running with two goals and three assists already, making him one of the leading lights in the division. Ably supported by Jack Diamond, also two goals, and the experienced Oliver Norwood in midfield they are a good unit going forward. They do need to tighten at the back a little, and 21 year old Ethan Pye has been the pick of a decent back line so far.
