Barrow will play host to a Swindon Town side looking to capitalise on an impressive, early start to the campaign. The Bluebirds are looking to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town, needing to maintain some consistent form. Swindon have won four of their last five games in all competitions.
Andy Whing’s side head into the tie expecting the home advantage to favour them, but with a strong Town lineup arriving, the visitors’ attack could prove too much for Barrow.
Our Three Predictions for Barrow vs Swindon Town
- First Prediction: Swindon Town to win 17/10
- Second Prediction: Aaron Drinan to score anytime 11/4
- Third Prediction: Both teams to score – No 9/10

First Prediction for Barrow vs Swindon Town – Swindon Town to win 17/10
One unfortunate trend of Barrow’s could be broken as League Two’s fifth-placed side visit the SO Legal Stadium. The Bluebirds have not managed to win two games back-to-back and could suffer their another loss in a, so far, low-scoring season. Sitting just 18th in the standings, Swindon have been fantastic in front of goal and are the joint league leaders in goalscoring after six games played.
The 11 goals scored by Ian Holloway’s side have been largely shared around the starting lineup, with contributors in multiple positions. Aaron Drinan has looked excellent in front of goal, while Gavin Kilkenny and Will Wright have continued to impress under the former Blackpool head coach. Joe Snowdon has also proved to be an electrifying asset for the Robins and could prove tricky for Barrow’s left-hand side.
Second Prediction for Barrow vs Swindon Town – Aaron Drinan to score anytime 11/4
As aforementioned, Drinan has been a prolific striker so far this campaign. At 11/4, this is great value as the 27-year-old could score for the third game in a row and form a deadly partnership once more with Paul Glatzel. Barrow are either on it defensively, or can leak goals left, right and centre. Swindon will look to capitalise on a potential dip in morale following Whing’s side’s loss to Fleetwood.
Drinan has already matched last season in terms of his goalscoring record. The 27-year-old could go one better already within seven league matches and looks to have grown fond of League Two. Holloway will demand that his side be fearless in their attacking approach at the SO Legal Stadium. A win could take the Robins to the summit of the table if results elsewhere favour Swindon. Now, if former Wrexham hero, Ollie Palmer, is favoured in the line-up, then the 33-year-old could also be a near-certainty for a contribution this weekend.
Third Prediction for Barrow vs Swindon Town – Both teams to score – No 9/10
Swindon have seen this bet land in just two matches this season, but will expected to add a third when they face Barrow. This is because the Bluebirds have failed to allow this punt to come through on just one occasion – in a 2-1 victory over Notts County. Either Barrow have been able to score against their opponents, or they have been entirely nullified. The good news for this bet is that there has rarely been any in-between.
Swindon themselves do naturally boast a more superior defence – given their Deadline Day recruitment of Jamie Knight-Lebel as well as Finley Munroe on a season-long loan from Aston Villa. Wright continues to thrive in a playmaking centre-back role, with the 28-year-old being a unique profile and penalty taker for the League Two promotion candidates. At the other end of the pitch, Town boast an impressive share of goals around the team. Nine different goalscorers has shown just how capable the entire squad is at being clinical.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-to-Head
Swindon began their season with a close, but disappointing loss to Walsall, bouncing back the following weekend with an important 3-2 victory over recently-relegated Cambridge United. An EFL Cup loss to Cardiff City saw a focus turn towards the league much earlier than Holloway’s side would have hoped. However, this resulted in three out of four subsequent wins in the league. Wins against Oldham Athletic, Shrewsbury Town and Crewe Alexandra were partially interrupted by a complete shutout and 2-0 defeat by Barnet.
EFL Trophy campaigns began for Swindon in a 3-2 victory over Reading, while Barrow wait their turn for a first round of matches in the Vertu-sponsored competition. Whing’s team also fell short in matchday one – with a 1-0 loss to Chesterfield being followed up by a 2-0 defeat by Milton Keynes Dons. This exceptionally tough test was then also followed by a 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Preston North End. Barrow’s first couple of wins in the league saw Notts County and Colchester United fall short at the hands of the Bluebirds. Either side of the Colchester result, 1-0 losses to Harrogate Town and Fleetwood Town have ruined any momentum heading into this one.
Holloway’s side have somewhat had the upper hand in this head-to-head fixture, with half of the wins in the last eight meetings. Last season a 2-0 victory at home saw Swindon nullify their upcoming opponents. In the last three away visits to Barrow, the Robins have won 1-0, 2-0 and drawn 1-1 last season.
