Our Three Predictions For Cardiff City v Plymouth Argyle

Prediction 1 – Cardiff City To Win – 9/20

Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – No – 4/5

Prediction 3 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 3/4

First Prediction For Cardiff City v Plymouth Argyle – Cardiff City To Win – 9/20

Cardiff City come into this match on a three game win streak that has seen them top the League One table after three games, a place where many have them ending the season too. They do now seem to be hitting their stride and the least three games have also seen them win close games without conceding. That could well happen again in this game as Plymouth Argyle have only scored four times in their five league games, and have only one win to their name as they languish in 19th, and show form that could spell trouble for the remainder of the season, even this early on. Cardiff have won both their home matches so far, and Plymouth have lost both of their away trips. This should make for a resounding home win.

Second Prediction For Cardiff City v Plymouth Argyle – Both Teams To Score – No – 4/5

City have only conceded one goal in their opening five games in League One, and have kept three straight clean sheets. This alone should mean a tough day out for visiting Argyle. Throw in that winning their opening two home games by a total of 5-1, and starting to make the impression that preseason predictions thought they would, this should be another win where they shut their opponents out. Plymouth have not completely struggled for goals, and do have two on the road, but having lost four of the opening five, and those two coming in a 3-2 loss at Lincoln City, they are sporadic in front of goal. The Cardiff defence is showing great signs of being tough to break down, and that could well be the case in this being a good bet.

Third Prediction For Cardiff City v Plymouth Argyle – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 3/4

So, with the Cardiff machine starting to look well oiled and keeping teams out of their goal, they are playing more adventurous going forward. Plymouth may spring a surprise and make a game of it with a goal, but that would seem unlikely, even then the odds are short for a reason. The Cardiff attack is potent and have scored eight in the last four games in all competitions, the average could raise in this game as they aim to cement the top spot early on and send a message to the rest of the division.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Rubin Colwill will be the first name on Brian Barry-Murphy’s team sheet. The 23 year old attacker has not only scored twice already but has been a constant top performer so far. Cardiff are sitting atop the League One stadnings, and will want to stay there, and should sweep aside a challenge from Plymouth with ease. The defence is solid with only one goal let in so far. Nathan Trott in goal is proving reliable, with Joel Baban, Ryan Wintle and Will Fish providing excellent cover. Chris Willock will be a threat going forward too, and look out for 20 year old Cian Ashford in attack.

Plymouth Argyle have endured a slow start to the season, and may find this game another tough day out. Tom Cleverly will need to draw on his experience to get his team motivated for this one, and the weeks ahead as they try and start to move upwards in the table. To do this the defence must be stronger. Malachi Boateng is playing well but will need more help from Brendan Galloway and Alex Mitchell. Their only win so far was in their last game so they do have a little confidence coming in, and upfront they do have Xavier Amachei, who has both one goal and an assist so far. This may be a game out of their reach, but if Cardiff have an off day, then Caleb Watts could also prove to be a factor for an upset win
