Both Championship outfits boast resilient defences, with the exception of Derby’s uncharacteristic crumble on the opening day with Stoke. Despite conceding to an Aune Heggebø goal in the EFL Cup, Josh Vickers as a rotated ‘keeper provided County a safety net at the back. The former Ipswich Town man could take this role as the in-form winger looks to be sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring injury. With a clear need to impress in a County shirt, Jackson also scored in the Salzburg friedndly, indicating some transformation under Eustace. At 19/5 and a need for goals elsewhere in the team, now that Blackett-Taylor has been sidelined, the winger could partner Morris as the main outlet for goals with a point to prove.

In both EFL Cup fixtures for the two sides, as well as their respective Championship openers at the weekend, Derby and Coventry have seen this bet land every time. In the past 12 meetings, there have been four wins for Derby, four draws and four victories for the away side. Coventry lost out in a league double to the Rams last season, with Eustace’s side prevailing as 2-0 victors in the March leg.
