Bradford City have confirmed the signing of three-time League One winner Max Power on a two-year deal.
The Bantams will return to the third tier after a six-year absence next season after securing automatic promotion from League Two. After surging up the table during the second half of the campaign, Graham Alexander’s side needed to secure a victory on the final day against Fleetwood Town to confirm a top three finish.
With the score locked at 0-0 entering added time and Walsall winning at Crewe Alexandra, it looked as if they would have to settle for a place in the play-offs. However, Antoni Sarcevic struck in the 96th minute to send Valley Parade into pandemonium.
Now looking to add League One quality to their squad, they’ve wasted no time in bringing Power to Yorkshire after the former Sunderland man left Danish outfit AGF at the end of last month.
Power Delighted To Return To England
The 31-year-old made his name with two separate spells at Wigan Athletic. With three promotions with the Latics under his belt, he opted to leave for a second time in 2023, joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah. He then moved to Denmark last summer, but has now opted to return to England.
Speaking to official club media upon his arrival, the midfielder said:
“I am delighted to get the deal done so early in the summer and excited to get going.
“I was watching how the season finished closely and was as excited as everybody else here when the goal went in in the 96th minute! I could not wait to come here.”
Manager Alexander echoed those sentiments, saying:
“I am extremely pleased to start our summer recruitment by bringing Max to the club. He brings a wealth of experience with promotions under his belt and proven quality.
“After meeting with him, his enthusiasm to come and play for us was clear to see. We all look forward to working with him”

This could prove an excellent addition to Graham Alexander’s squad next season as they look to stabilise in League One. Power will bring with him a wealth of experience in this division, having made 300 appearances in League One with Tranmere Rovers, Wigan and Sunderland. Even more impressive is his 69 goal contributions during this time, showing that he will bring an attacking threat. More signings like this and Bradford could be a real force next season.
