1st Prediction For Hull City vs Derby County: Hull City to win 13/10

Hull City have home advantage and are in slightly better form than Derby County, meaning it would be sensible to predict the Tigers to win on Saturday. Ruben Selles’ side sit in 20th place in the Championship, one spot above Derby, but they have a fairly good record in recent weeks. Hull have won twice, including last time out against fellow strugglers Preston North End, and drawn once to pick up seven points in their last five games, putting them in a very respectable 12th place in the form table. Derby, meanwhile, have seen the new manager bounce following the appointment of John Eustace fade slightly in the last few weeks. The Rams have picked up one win and five points in their last five games which puts them in 16th place in the form guide. They also have a poor record away from home, winning just three times on their travels all season, whilst four of Hull’s five wins at the MKM stadium have come since Selles was appointed.

2nd Prediction For Hull City vs Derby County: Both teams to score: yes 21/20

Those looking for a slightly safer prediction, which does not depend on either side winning the match, should consider predicting both teams to score. Hull City have kept just seven clean sheets this campaign, the third-least of any Championship side, and Derby have only kept the opposition out 10 times in their 44 league games. Ruben Selles’ men have been consistently conceding one goal in a game lately and they have only kept one clean sheet since the 8th of March. Similarly, Derby County have kept just one clean sheet in their last five games. The Tigers also have a slightly better attacking record when playing at home. They have scored 24 of their 43 goals at the MKM Stadium and they have only failed to find the back of the net in front of their home fans twice since the start of 2025.

3rd Prediction For Hull City vs Derby County: Joe Gelhardt to score any time 17/5

Despite only joining the Tigers in January, Joe Gelhardt has become their second-highest goalscorer in the league this season. He scored a brace from the penalty spot to secure victory for Hull, in a big game in the context of the relegation battle, last time out which will see him full of confidence heading into Saturday’s game. Those goals took the 22-year-old’s total for the season to five goals in 18 appearances for the Tigers, making it the most prolific season of his senior career to date, despite only joining half way through the season. Since arriving in Hull, Gelhardt has scored more goals per 90 than 85.6% of right-wingers in the Championship and he has more xG per 90 than 87.5% of them. The Leeds United loanee is at his most dangerous when he is given space to dribble into and he averages 2.35 dribbles per 90, more than 93.8% of wingers.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Hull City currently occupy 20th place in the Championship after a tough campaign which has seen them in and around the relegation zone all season. Ruben Selles’ men have accumulated 48 points in 44 games, but wins from many of their relegation rivals on Easter Monday mean that they are still just two points clear of the drop zone. However, Ruben Selles’ men will know that a win against Derby County in another relegation six-pointer will take them above the fabled 50-point barrier and secure their status as a second-tier team for another season.

Saturday’s game is equally, if not slightly more, important for Derby County. The Rams currently occupy 21st place in the Championship and they have 46 points, remaining outside of the relegation zone purely due to goal difference. Their form has picked up since the appointment of John Eustace as they have accumulated 17 points in his 12-game tenure, but their one-goal defeat to Luton Town on Good Friday may prove costly if they do not pick up any points in their final two games.

The reverse fixture is of little relevance as neither manager was in charge of their team, but the game ended in a rather fair one-one draw.
