Our 3 predictions for Luton Town vs Coventry City

- 2nd prediction: Under 2.5 goals in the game
- 3rd prediction: Both teams to score – No
1st prediction for Luton Town vs Coventry City: Luton Town to win or draw – 33/100
This is a huge game in both the relegation and play-off fights. Luton have been poor all season and face the possibility of a second consecutive relegation, though they are very much still in the fight. Two wins in a row have proved huge to them; they are now in the drop zone only on goal difference and have a huge amount of momentum and confidence that they can survive. A third consecutive win could get them out of the bottom three with only one to play and would put the situation fully in their hands.. Coventry City on the other hand have stuttered in their push for the play-offs but remain in the top six despite three losses in six, though a loss and a Middlesbrough win see them fall out of the play-off places. They will be hoping to exploit any Luton nerves but the home side will have the crowd on their side as well as momentum, which will make it a tough test.
2nd prediction for Luton Town vs Coventry City: Under 2.5 goals in the game – 3/4
This will likely be a very close and cagey affair. Luton haven’t been great in front of goal all season but have shored themselves up at the back at the best possible time, and have made themselves very hard to beat which has been vital to their survival chances. They beat fellow strugglers Derby by a single goal before an impressive home win against Bristol City, so they will believe they can dispatch Coventry in a similar manner. The away side are in inconsistent form, with a loss to bottom side Plymouth denting their play-off fight,, and this game could go similarly with Luton also fighting for their lives. Coventry have an abundance of attacking talent but Luton will look to nullify them and play the game on their own terms to try and sneak a win. The two sides will therefore likely cancel each other out in a low scoring affair.
3rd prediction for Luton Town vs Coventry City: Both teams to score – No – 1/1
This is a similar prediction to the previous one. Both sides are going well and have scored fairly freely recently, but this game is a different beast entirely. A loss for either side would put them at a huge disadvantage going into the last game of the season, though it wouldn’t decide anything for definite at this stage. Luton in particular will use the home crowd to their advantage and look to shut up shop if they go a goal ahead, as they simply cannot afford to lose. If they concede first they’ll have to attack, but expect them to win by a single goal if they get all three points.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head
This is a massive game for both sides. If Luton lose, they are right back in trouble, whereas a win could lift them out of the relegation zone with only a game left should Derby drop points. It’s out of Luton’s hands as it stands, but a win here would do them the world of good. As for Coventry, their play off place is still not secure, but could be here if they better Middlesbrough’s results. Should they lose and Boro win, they would drop out of the top six with just a game to go, so a win really is vital here.
In terms of form coming into this, both sides are doing well. Luton have won their last two to give themselves more of a chance of staying up, including a key win over Bristol City in their last match. As for Coventry, they have been more inconsistent but have done enough to keep them in the top six. Their last game was a disappointing 3-1 loss to bottom side Plymouth Argyle, and they will be hoping to bounce back here.
Taking fixture history into account, Coventry have the upper hand. They’ve won 42 to Luton’s 29, and won the reverse fixture 3-2 in October. That being said, a relegation fight changes everything, so history will likely go out the window on Saturday.
