Bradford City will look to continue their automatic promotion bid when they travel to the SMH Group Stadium to face Chesterfield in League Two.
Our Three Predictions For Chesterfield vs Bradford City
- First Prediction: Match Result – Draw – 11/5
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 18/25
- Third Prediction: Bradford City – Draw No Bet – 9/10
First Prediction For Chesterfield vs Bradford City – Match Result – Draw – 11/5
Chesterfield are clinging on to their slim play-off hopes, although one win in their last four means they face an uphill battle. They are three points behind seventh placed Colchester United with three games remaining but really need a win against automatic promotion contenders Bradford City. The Spireites do possess a better goal difference than the teams above them, which may come into play, but after an excellent March, they faltered in recent weeks.
Bradford pulled themselves into the promotion picture with some stunning form after Christmas. However, they too have stumbled over the past few weeks, winning just one of their last five. They remain third and just two points behind leaders Port Vale, but they are just a point above Walsall in fourth. Whilst their home form is the best in the division, Graham Alexander’s side have won just five times on the road all season. With the pair having so much riding on the game, they could cancel each other out.
Second Prediction For Chesterfield vs Bradford City – Both Teams To Score – 18/25
With the stakes being high, both teams will realise just how important three points will be to their respective ambitions. Chesterfield drew a blank at AFC Wimbledon on Good Friday, but they’ve only failed to score twice at home all season. They’ve also found the back of the net 65 times this season, a number only bettered by Walsall, Swindon Town and Doncaster Rovers. However, they are also liable at the back, having shipped 50 goals this season.
Bradford head into this fixture having kept just two clean sheets in their last 10. They also conceded five against Swindon earlier this month, but will back themselves to score despite the continued absence of talisman Andy Cook. They’ve scored seven times in their last three, with 51% of their fixtures so far seeing both teams score. This does increase slightly to 52% when they’re away from Vally Parade. It’s also worth considering both teams scored when the pair met earlier this season, with Bradford winning 2-1.
Third Prediction For Chesterfield vs Bradford City – Bradford City – Draw No Bet – 9/10
The business end of the season tends to throw up shock results, with this season no different. Those challenging for automatic promotion all seem to be limping over the line, including Bradford. Still, a win here would put one foot in League One. With a clash against second-placed Doncaster Rovers on the horizon, it’s fair to say that the Bantams need three points here. They are 2/1 in some markets to win outright, so backing them with a draw no bet option will protect your stake if the scores end level.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Chesterfield remain in the hunt for a top seven finish, despite winning just one of their last four. They drew 0-0 with AFC Wimbledon on Good Friday, which followed an emphatic 3-0 win over Fleetwood Town. Prior to that, they suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Tranmere Rovers before being held to a 1-1 draw by Gillingham. It’s their form in March which has kept the Spireites in the upper reaches of the table though, where they recorded four wins and a draw.
Bradford looked to be heading to a disappointing mid-table finish at Christmas, but a run of just one defeat in 15 from Boxing Day to the beginning of March saw them surge up the table. Back-to-back defeats against Gillingham and Tranmere followed, but they soon bounced back by hammering Colchester United 4-1. A mini blip followed but a 2-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra on April 5th saw them top the table. However, they’ve since slipped to third with a 5-4 defeat at Swindon Town before Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Notts County.
Bradford have won the last seven meetings between the pair, including a 2-1 victory at Valley Parade in December. Chesterfield’s last win against the Yorkshire-based side was in 2015, but they haven’t beaten the Bantams on home soil since winning 3-0 in April 2007. Overall, Bradford are the much stronger in this clash, winning 48 of the previous 100 fixtures. Chesterfield have emerged victorious on 24 occasions whilst 28 have ended in a draw.
