First Prediction For Walsall vs Harrogate Town: Match Result – Draw – 3/1
Since 24th January, only MK Dons have taken fewer points than Walsall. The Sadlers’ tally of fourteen points from seventeen games is made up of just two wins, which is the worst record in the fourth tier In that timeframe. Them victories over Chesterfield and Morecambe came on consecutive February weekends, when it appeared Mat Sadler’s side had overcome their blip in form. But they are now ten games without a win, four worse than any other League Two side, drawing four of their last six. Harrogate are also a side that are frequently involved in stalemates, with three of their last five ending level. But the Sulphurities have only won three times away from home all season, so a draw can be expected in this one.
Second Prediction For Walsall vs Harrogate Town: Under 2.5 Goals – 3/4
Despite their second half of the season, Walsall still are the divisions leading scorers with 72 goals. The Saddlers tally of 42 at home, the only side to average more than two goals a game, is also the best in League Two. But they are facing a Sulphurites team that have scored just thirteen on their travels, the lowest tally in the fourth tier. But Harrogate have a top half defensive record away from North Yorkshire, so another tough afternoon with few goals should await Mat Sadler’s outfit.
Third Prediction For Walsall vs Harrogate Town: Half-Time Result – Harrogate Town – 9/2
Much of Walsalls’ success in the first half of the campaign was built on their second half performances. While they are still the best performing League Two side in that period of games, the Saddlers rank fourteenth based on their opening 45 minutes. They are a full 20 points worse off, leading half as many games as they go onto win by full time. Harrogate are only four points adrift of their opponents this afternoon in the first period of games, but it would not be a surprise if they continued Walsall’s miserable run by leading at the interval.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
While the January recall of forward Nathan Lowe was expected to have an impact on the Saddlers’ fortunes, few could have envisaged how detrimental it would be to the remainder of their campaign. Six wins from six league games in December, the latter five without conceding, saw Walsall emerge as the clear favourites for the League Two title. Following a further two victories, including a 5-1 thrashing of Tranmere where Lowe reached fifteen for the season, Stoke recalled the EFL’s top goalscorer the following day. But the West Midlanders had opened up a twelve-point gap over second-place Crewe, and the impact appeared to be minimal when they won for the ninth successive fourth-tier game against MK Dons the following Saturday.
Ahead of the trip to Bradford, Mat Sadler’s outfit were seventeen points clear of the Bantams. But the West Yorkshire side put an end to the winning run, themselves recording a fifth win from six games. In the months that have followed, Bradford have chipped away and have overturned that mammoth gap, sitting two clear following their draw to Notts County last night. A winless April for the Saddlers saw them finally knocked off top spot, with their place in the top three in real jeopardy. They were relieved to see Doncaster drop points at Salford on Tuesday in their game in hand, though Rovers have now moved level with Walsall with four games remaining. Only goal difference has them in third, thanks to their early-season form.
Harrogate have flirted with relegation at various stages of the season, but their place in the fourth tier next term is almost mathematically secure. Carlisle are nine points adrift of the Sulphurites in 20th, meaning that if Harrogate better the Cumbrians’ result on Friday afternoon, then they are safe with three games to play. The North Yorkshire side have fared much better in the past two months following a dip in form at the start of 2025. March began in perfect fashion, winning two relegation six-pointers against Accrington and Carlisle on successive Saturdays. An excellent point at current leaders Port Vale was sandwiched in between them two home encounters.
While the second half of last month was poorer, losing at Newport before two stalemates, they now had points on the board. And they beat a relegation rival for the third time in the space of a month at the beginning of April, defeating Tranmere in a five-goal thriller. The Birkenhead outfit twice pulled a goal back after Harrogate led by two at the hour mark, but they held out for a huge three points. Following a narrow loss at AFC Wimbledon, they recorded another impressive result on Saturday. Trailing two-nil to Play-Off chasers Grimsby with five minutes remaining, the Sulphurites pulled off an unlikely comeback to draw.
While Walsall will be keen to secure promotion themselves, recent form suggests they could do with a helping hand from elsewhere. The saving grace for them is that several of their promotion rivals go head-to-head in the coming weeks, with a blockbuster clash between Doncaster and Bradford on the penultimate weekend of the season. The Saddlers play first on Easter Monday, making the lunchtime trip to Newport. Accrington are then the visitors to the Bescot Stadium, potentially needing points to preserve their League Two status. On the final day, Walsall are at Crewe, hoping to have destiny in their own hands. Harrogate know their safety could be assured on Friday, but if not, they have successive home games against Fleetwood and Notts County to do the job. Simon Weaver takes his side to Morecambe on the final day, who are almost certain to be relegated.
Unsurprisingly, like many EFL sides Harrogate have faced, their meetings with Walsall only date back five years. Nothing can separate the sides across nine meetings, with three victories each. Walsall have won the last two though, both in North Yorkshire and by two goals to nil. But the last encounter at the Bescot Stadium saw Harrogate take the points by a single goal.
