Our Three Predictions For Bradford City vs Notts County:

  • First Prediction For Bradford City vs Notts County: Match Result – Bradford City – 9/10
  • Second Prediction For Bradford City vs Notts County: Over 2.5 Goals – 9/10
  • Third Prediction For Bradford City vs Notts County: Half-Time Result – Bradford City – 5/2

First Prediction For Bradford City vs Notts County: Match Result – Bradford City – 9/10

Bradford will be acutely aware that a win will send them top ahead of the Good Friday fixtures, tightening their grip on a spot in the automatic promotion places. And at Valley Parade, it’s hard to see past a home win. The Bantams have the best home record in League Two by some distance, winning sixteen of their 21 home outings this term. Not only that, they won ten straight home games earlier this year, setting a new club record. While Tranmere put an end to that run, themselves winning away for the first time in five months, Bradford have since responded with consecutive home successes over two Play-Off chasing sides. If Notts could replicate their form on the road at Meadow Lane, then they wouldn’t be among those sides vying for a top-seven finish. County have the third-best away record in the fourth tier, winning nine of 21, but they are unlikely to reach double figures on Thursday evening.

Second Prediction For Bradford City vs Notts County: Over 2.5 Goals – 9/10

A repeat of Saturday’s 5-4 scoreline would make for a great spectacle, but is unlikely for the Bantams. Bradford’s two other April outings ended two-nil, but March was much more low-scoring on the whole, with three games having a maximum of one goal. Notts, meanwhile, have also been hit and miss, with seven across their three April encounters. Two was the common theme last month, as six of their seven games had a side netting twice.

Third Prediction For Bradford City vs Notts County: Half-Time Result – Bradford City – 5/2

If games were based solely on the opening period, then Bradford would almost have promotion and the title wrapped up. The Bantams are eight clear of their closest rivals, AFC Wimbledon, trailing only eight of their 42 games at the interval. They are actually a point worse off than their overall tally, but their fellow promotion contenders fare worse than the West Yorkshire outfit. Notts, meanwhile, drop a place and are ten points behind their tally over the 90 minutes, suggesting Bradford should be in control by 9pm on Thursday evening.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Bradford lost their position at the top of League Two last time out in an absolutely incredible fixture at Swindon. The Bantams couldn’t have hoped for a better start as Calum Kavanagh’s double saw them race into a two-goal lead. But with only fourteen minutes on the clock, Richie Smallwood received a straight red card, leaving the visitors with 76 minutes to see the game out. By the interval, Kavanagh had completed his hat-trick, but the Robins had pulled two goals back. Harry Smith levelled on the hour mark, before Brad Halliday incredibly put Bradford back in front with thirteen to play. But stoppage time saw Swindon deliver the knockout blow, levelling through Smith before Jack Shepherd put through his own net in the fifth minute of stoppage time to give the Robins a memorable win.

That crushing defeat was amplified by Port Vale’s thrashing of Bromley, meaning the Valiants have moved three points clear at the top, while also equalling the Bantams’ goal difference. But there was better news elsewhere, as promotion rivals Doncaster and AFC Wimbledon couldn’t be separated, while Walsall lost again. That means Bradford have a two-point gap ahead of Donny’s game in hand at Salford City this evening, in which a Rovers win would see them leapfrog City into second spot. This latest defeat was Bradford’s fourth in seven, beaten on the road at Vale earlier in April before responding with a critical victory against Crewe.

Notts County, meanwhile, recently had aspirations of joining Bradford inside the top three, but consecutive losses have left them four points off the pace with four games to play. The Magpies are now looking nervously over their shoulder, with only a three-point buffer to eighth-place Colchester United. While Grimsby drew on Saturday, wins for the three sides below them have opened up the race for a spot in the Play-Offs. Two of those sides, Colchester United and Salford City, have beaten Stuart Maynard’s side in the past two weeks. Following a resounding win against MK Dons, Tyreece Simpson netted for the U’s on the stroke of half-time to deal them a devastating blow in achieving automatic promotion.

While on Friday evening, Salford eased to three points at Meadow Lane, boosting their own aspirations of joining or even knocking Notts out of the top seven. Both Bradford and County will have eyes on their meeting tonight, knowing it could have huge ramifications in the League Two standings. Like many of the sides in the top seven, the Magpies have struggled for consistency in the past six weeks, beginning March with a stalemate at Fleetwood. They were then defeated by Barrow and AFC Wimbledon before winning at Grimsby. Local rivals Chesterfield also returned from Nottingham with all three points, before Crewe held them to a goalless draw. County then won at Newport for just their second win in seven outings, a run which now stands at three victories in ten games.

Bradford have three games remaining, starting with a trip to Chesterfield on Easter Monday, before a huge promotion clash with Doncaster on the penultimate weekend of the season. The Bantams then host Fleetwood on the final day. County have Cheltenham and Harrogate to play, then Notts also face Rovers, in what could be a huge fixture at Meadow Lane.

Notts County hold the upper hand across history against Bradford, winning 31 times to the Bantams’ 23 victories. The Magpies have won the last three contests, all by at least a two-goal margin. Back in December, Notts had the game wrapped up within 32 minutes, winning 3-0 for the second successive outing against the West Yorkshire side.
