Wrexham Reveal Final Day Plans

Wrexham have confirmed that they will be roared on by a large contingent when they travel to Lincoln City on the final day of the League One season.

The Red Dragons currently hold their fate in their own hands as they chase a third successive promotion. Sitting second in the table, they know that matching Wycombe Wanderers’ results for the remainder of the campaign will see them earn a place in the Championship next season.

Phil Parkinson’s team were able to take advantage of the Chairboy’s slip up at the weekend, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Reading. Wrexham beat Burton Albion 3-0 to extend their lead over third place to six points, although that gap was halved last night when Wycombe earned a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.

With just five games remaining, the Welsh-based side are favourites to join Birmingham City in the second tier and avoid having to navigate a way through the play-offs.

Lincoln Grant Wrexham Big Allocation

Although there are four games to play until the final day, focus is starting to shift on a potential promotion party. Wrexham face Wigan Athletic, Bristol Rovers, Blackpool and Charlton Athletic before the trip to the LNER Stadium. Meanwhile, Wycombe have a tough run in against Stevenage, Bolton Wanderers, Charlton and Leyton Orient before finishing the season at Adams Park against fellow promotion chasers Stockport County.

It was revealed earlier today that Lincoln have granted their League One rivals an allocation of 1,790 tickets for the clash which would see them fill the Stacey West stand behind the goal. This is a major boost for Parkinson and co., who will be looking to give their supporters a day to remember.

Of course, there is still plenty of football to be played between now and then, and Wrexham will be hoping that Wycombe falter beforehand.

Writer’s View

Wrexham have hit an excellent run of form at just the right time to take advantage of the final promotion place in League One. The gap between them and Wycombe is just three points, with the Chairboys having a slightly better goal difference. Should this go to the final day, Lincoln will provide the final hurdle before they learn their fate. However, the Imps will be hoping they can play the role of party poopers, just as Portsmouth did to them a year ago.
