First Prediction For Crewe Alexandra vs Cheltenham Town: Match Result – Crewe Alexandra – 33/50
Teams who have nothing to play for either end up producing unexpected results or suffer poor form, and the latter has happened to Cheltenham. The last thing Michael Fylnn would have wanted was for their campaign to peter out, but that is exactly what has transpired in the past few weeks with four losses in a row. Four is also the amount of sides that have won fewer games on their travels this season than the Robins, along with the number of victories they have achieved away from Gloucestershire. Crewe are stronger on their travels, but sit tenth in the home table, winning nine games, though their form has been inconsistent at best in recent weeks. But, they will be considered big favourites to close the gap to the top seven tomorrow evening.
Second Prediction For Crewe Alexandra vs Cheltenham Town: Both Teams To Score – No – 3/4
All the statistics point towards Cheltenham not finding the net on Thursday evening. They are scoreless in four games, losing each of those encounters, including the last three by two goals to nil. But throughout the course of the season, the Robins goalscoring has been much better, managing 51, which is only three goals adrift of the top two sides in the division. But, only five sides have conceded more in the fourth tier, which should make Crewe confident of netting on Thursday evening. The Cheshire side haven’t exactly been prolific in front of goal themselves though, scoring just 47 all season. Nevertheless, expect goals only in one direction tomorrow evening.
Third Prediction For Crewe Alexandra vs Cheltenham Town: Half-Time Result – Draw – 21/20
Despite being in contention for a top-seven spot, Crewe have one of the worst first-half records in League Two. They have collected fifteen points fewer in the opening 45 minutes than across the full game, sitting twentieth in this table. Meanwhile, Cheltenham are four points worse off but are level with their Thursday evening opponents in this particular table. A stalemate at the break tomorrow seems likely.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
Crewe remain in the race for the top seven, but a win is almost certainly required to keep their hopes alive. While a Thursday evening encounter, chosen for Sky Sports coverage, isn’t ideal for supporters, it does allow the Alex to play before all their promotion rivals. Sitting four points adrift of the Play-Offs, they will close the gap on seventh-place Grimsby to just one by winning tomorrow evening, overtaking Colchester United in the process. The latter travel to Newport on Saturday, while the Mariners are simultaneously in action in North Yorkshire against Harrogate.
Like many of the sides currently chasing promotion, Lee Bell’s side have been inconsistent in the past month. A topsy-turvy February was followed by an excellent start to March, opening with a victory at Chesterfield. But a dismal showing against Fleetwood quickly brought them down to earth, before three successive stalemates against Salford, Doncaster and Notts County. The month ended in disappointing style with a loss to local rivals Port Vale, thanks to a late Jayden Stockley header for the away side. There was a swift response on the opening day of April, reigniting their charge for seventh place by defeating Grimsby. On Saturday, Bradford scored early and late in the game to continue their own push for promotion, moving to the summit in the fourth tier.
Earlier today, Michael Flynn told his players to “empty the tank” & “give everything they’ve got to the final whistle of the last game of the season” in an interview with BBC Radio Gloucestershire. They will be a League Two side next season, with an almost identical gap between the top seven and the bottom two, standing at fifteen and fourteen points respectively. The Robins’ form, as a result, has been poor in recent times, highlighted by a run of no goals in four and just six shots on target in that timeframe. What makes it even more remarkable is before that spell, they shared six goals in a thrilling draw with a side that they also share a nickname: Swindon.
March was a long slog for Cheltenham, playing seven games in total. It began with a respectable point against Grimsby, extending their unbeaten streak to four games following wins over Barrow and Newport, along with a comeback draw against then-leaders Walsall. But a trip to Bradford proved a bridge too far, as the Bantams won convincingly, before a narrow loss to in-form Colchester. The five-game streak against promotion-chasing sides ended with a surprise win courtesy of Matty Taylor’s late winner at AFC Wimbledon. Since that draw with Swindon though, they have lost four games in succession, though it means little in terms of the standings at this stage of the season.
If Crewe can keep their hopes alive tomorrow, then their clash with Colchester on Good Friday will be monumental. After that, they host MK Dons on Easter Monday before travelling to Birkenhead to face Tranmere. Again, the final day could hold huge significance as Walsall travel to Cheshire, attempting to salvage their automatic promotion hopes before that fixture. Two of Cheltenham’s final four fixtures are against fellow mid-table outfits Gillingham and Bromley. Inbetween, the Robins travel to Notts County over the Easter weekend, before hosting bottom side Carlisle in their final home fixture of the campaign.
In the relatively short history of this fixture, Crewe have the edge with twelve victories to the Robins’s ten. Alexandra were unbeaten in the first six meetings between 2002 and 2008, though the last nine games have been remarkably tight with three wins each and three draws. On Boxing Day, Crewe entered the festive encounter twelve games unbeaten but a Joel Colwill double in the final twenty minutes turned the game around following Jack Lankester’s earlier opener.
