Our Three Predictions For Queens Park Rangers vs Cardiff City

  • First Prediction: Queens Park Rangers To Win – 6/5
  • Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 17/20
  • Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 23/20

First Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Cardiff City – Queens Park Rangers To Win – 6/5

Queens Park Rangers may sit 15th in the Championship but they would be naive to think they are safe from relegation just yet. Having picked up just one point from their last six games, they are just five points above Cardiff, who currently occupy the last relegation place. As a result, defeat against the Bluebirds would see the Hoops well and truly pulled back into the mix. It’s worth noting that their recent six-game winless run has seen them play four times away from home and their recent form at Loftus Road has been decent. They played in front of their own supporters just twice in March, drawing with Leeds United whilst narrowly losing to top of the table Sheffield United. Prior to that, their two home games in February both ended in victory.

Cardiff slipped into the bottom three on Wednesday night when Derby County beat Preston North End. However, the Bluebirds have picked up four points from their last two outings after drawing with Sheffield Wednesday following a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. That victory in Lancashire was their only one on the road in the league this year though.

Second Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Cardiff City – Both Teams To Score – 17/20

All the stats indicate that both teams will find the back of the net here. QPR have seen 62% of their fixtures this season achieve this result, a percentage only bettered by Norwich City. However, a staggering 74% of games at Loftus Road have seen both teams score, which includes three of their last four.

Cardiff are ranked just one place lower than the Londoners in this statistic. Despite their lowly position, they do know where the goal is and have scored and conceded in 59% of their outings so far. This figure rises to 74% away from the Cardiff City Stadium, a figure only bettered by West Bromwich Albion. All of the Bluebirds last five games have finished with both teams scoring.

Third Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Cardiff City – Over 2.5 Goals – 23/20

With both teams still in a relegation battle, this has made for more open games in recent weeks. Five of QPR’s last six games have produced at least three goals, with their last four at Loftus Road achieving the same outcome.

It’s a similar story with Cardiff. With Omer Riza’s side fighting for their lives, they have been forced to go for it. This has made for entertaining games, with four of their last five producing over 2.5 goals. Expect more of the same here as the pair search for a boost to their survival hopes.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

Queens Park Rangers’ recent form has been poor and they have failed to win in their last six in the Championship. They found themselves in the top half of the division at the end of January but two wins in their last 11 has seen them pulled back into the relegation conversation. After beating Derby County 4-0 on February 14th, Marti Cifuentes’ team then lost four in succession against Portsmouth, Sheffield United, West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough before earning a hard fought point against Leeds United. However, a return to losing ways followed after the international break when Stoke City picked up a much needed three points with a 3-1 win at the bet365 Stadium.

Cardiff fell into the bottom three on Wednesday without kicking a ball thanks to Derby County’s win over Preston North End. A 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend was seen as somewhat as a missed opportunity, especially as they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 before the international break. That victory ended a run of three successive 2-1 defeats.

QPR won the reverse fixture between the two earlier this season, winning 2-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium in November. The Bluebirds did win at Loftus Road last season, emerging from Loftus Road with a 2-1 victory on New Year’s Day 2024. Cardiff have a much better record in this fixture, winning 42 of their previous 86 clashes. The Hoops have 29 wins whilst 15 have ended a draw. The last stalemate came in the way of a 0-0 draw in August 2023.
