1st Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Mansfield Town: Mansfield Town to win 14/5
The bookmakers, perhaps not taking enough notice of Huddersfield Town’s recent form, have the home side as strong favourites going into Saturday’s game which could make predicting a Mansfield Town victory very fruitful. Huddersfield’s form in recent weeks has been nothing short of terrible. The Terriers have lost six of their last eight league games and picked up just 13 points in their last 14 league games as only three sides have picked up fewer points than them over the last five games. This has seen them slip from being in the race for automatic promotion to fighting to even gain a spot in the playoffs as they currently sit in eighth place, two points away from Bolton Wanderers in sixth. Mansfield Town are not in scintillating form either, but they have picked up a very respectable seven points from their last five league games which has put them eight points clear of the drop zone with seven games to go. This should mean they take Saturday’s game as somewhat of a free hit whilst Huddersfield players will be under immense pressure.
2nd Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Mansfield Town: Both teams to score: no 1/1
One of the reason’s for Huddersfield Town’s torrid form is their lack of goals, which could make predicting both teams not to score on Saturday worthwhile. Over their last five games, the Terriers have scored just five times, only five teams have scored less goals in that period. What makes this stat even worse is that all five of these goals came in one game against Crawley Town, a team with a notoriously leaky defence. Over their last nine games, they have scored just eight times, again showing a clear goalscoring problem. The Terriers are also a very wasteful side in front of goal. They have missed a staggering 62 big chances this season, more than any other team in the third tier, and the relatively inexperienced attacking trio of Josh Koroma, Callum Marshall and Joe Taylor are struggling for form in front of goal as a collective.
3rd Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Mansfield Town: Will Evans to score at any time 67/20
Those looking for a riskier prediction should consider predicting Mansfield Town frontman Will Evans to score despite his recent lengthly goal drought. The Welshman was brought by Nigel Clough in the summer as a replacement for Davis Keillor-Dunn and he has largely had a good season, though he has been in pretty poor form recently. The 27-year-old has scored 12 times in 38 league appearances for the Stags, a healthy return given that it is his first season in the third tier, and he is one of just two Mansfield players to reach double figures for goals. The former Newport County man can lead the line well and he is an excellent finisher from inside the box, where 11 of his 12 goals have come from. These 12 goals have also come from just 9.78 xG, showing how clinical Evans can be. He will be hoping to return to his best form on Saturday.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head
Huddersfield Town come into Saturday’s game sitting in eighth place in League One having accumulated 61 points from their 39 games. But, Jon Worthington’s side are amidst a horrible run of form which has seen them slip away from the race for automatic promotion. Worthington will know that his team need to improve their performance levels sooner rather than later if they are going to have any chance of securing a playoff berth and giving themselves an opportunity to immediately bounce back into the Championship after their relegation last season.
Nigel Clough will be relatively happy with how his Mansfield Town side have coped after their promotion to League One as they currently occupy 18th place having amassed 47 points in 39 games. The Stags are now eight points clear of the relegation places with just seven games to go and they will be looking to build towards a push up the table next season. Nevertheless, Clough will expect his side to pick up three points against an out of sorts Huddersfield team which could see them shoot up to 13th place.
The reverse fixture earlier in the season was the first competitive meeting between the two teams and, despite not having much possession, Huddersfield created many more chances than Mansfield and ended up winning the game by a margin of two goals to one.
