Birmingham City are within touching distance of an instant return to the EFL Championship, and they should keep their unbeaten home record intact against a Barnsley side that has slipped away from the League One playoff places.
Our Three Predictions For Birmingham City v Barnsley
- Prediction 1 – Birmingham City To Win – 3/10
- Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 4/5
- Prediction 3 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 53/100
First Prediction For Birmingham City v Barnsley – Birmingham City To Win – 3/10
Birmingham City are currently unbeaten in their last five League One games, and Barnsley have not won in their last six. These two facts alone suggests that The Blues will get the better of The Tykes. Throw in the fact the Birmingham are tantalisingly close to promotion, and will want to get that done and dusted as quickly as possible. They have been a juggernaut this season and are unbeaten at home, and carry that into a game they are big odds on to win, for the reasons already stated. Barnsley will not hold much hope in getting anything from this game, as their playoff hopes look to be long gone now after a poor run of results, and even though they have the fourth best away record in the league, this is a different type of away day – as many others have found out.
Second Prediction For Birmingham City v Barnsley – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 4/5
Birmingham just keep scoring goals. At home they have bagged 37 goals, whilst only conceding nine, and overall have managed 65. They will score at home as they have only been held goalless once all campaign at St. Andrews, that was back in late December a 0-0 draw with Blackpool. In their last home game they put four past Shrewsbury Town in a 4-1 victory. Barnsley actually have a good away record with 10 wins from their 20 road trips, and even though they have only outscored opponents by two goals when away, they have scored 27 times, so will have a good chance of adding to that tally, even though their hosts in this game have only conceded nine times at home. The Blues do play open football and will allow some chances, Barnsley may have enough in them to get at least one consolation goal.
Third Prediction For Birmingham City v Barnsley – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 53/100
Given the facts already shown this game has goals in it. With Birmingham looking to put on a show for their home fans they could grab a hatful here. They have scored seven in their last three home games, helped by their four last time out. They do not concede many at home, but when they push forward it is likely they could get caught on the break, and Barnsley do have form for grabbing goals on the road. They have only managed two in their last two trips away, and not won either, but with an outside shot at the playoffs they will want to show a good hand in this game, even if it is in a losing effort. Their 27 goals away, is way over a goal a game average, and they should be able to keep that statistic going.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head
Jay Stansfield has 17 goals to his name this season, and will want to add to that and should be able to hit 20 before the season ends. He is one of the reasons why City have ruled the roost this season in League One. Their promotion is now a matter of when and not if, but manager Chris Davies will not be taking anything for granted, so will be urging his side on and keep the unbeaten at home streak going. The defence has been solid at home with under ten goals let in. Led by Christoph Klarer, the 24 year old Austrian has been a virtual ever present at the back. He has formed a great partnership with both Ben Davies and Ethan Laird at the heart of the back line. Icelandic midfielder Willum Willumsson has kept driving forward, and his five assists have definitely been a factor in the teams success this season.
It was always going to be a tough ask to keep the momentum going with so many big spending clubs around them, and so it has proved over the last few weeks. A decent run of three straight wins in late February did keep them in contention, but since then no win in five for Conor Hourihane’s men. Davis Keillor-Dunn has been the one keeping the scoreboard ticking over, and has 14 goals along with five assists. He cannot do it all alone though and this has been the teams downfall in recent games. Young Fabio Jalo has come into the side, but the Portuguese striker has yet to get off the mark. Corey O’Keeffe has been one of the first names on the team sheet, 34 starts and three substitute calls from the bench. His defensively play has been one the the teams highlights for the season, along with Jon Russell, the Jamaican midfielder has six goals and two assists. This may be a tough ask from here to get into the playoffs, and they may well need to win out the remainder of their games to get in.
