1st Prediction For Notts County vs Milton Keynes Dons: Milton Keynes Dons to win 16/5

Both teams head into Wednesday’s game in relatively similar form but the bookmakers are offering much more favourable odds on predicting a victory for the away side. MK Dons have seen a small upturn in form since Ben Gladwin took over from Scott Lindsey in early March and they have won two of their last five league games, drawing once and losing twice in that period. This means that the Dons have picked up a respectable seven points from their last five league games, the exact same number that Stuart Maynard’s men have picked up. The key difference is that seven points from five games represents a slight dip in form relative to what the Magpies had shown earlier in the season as they have gone from being in an automatic promotion spot to finding themselves in sixth place (albeit only two points off the top three). Despite a poor result against Fleetwood Town at home in the Dons’ last game, Gladwin will be encouraged by his team’s recent performances on the road, where they have picked up four points in their last two games.

2nd Prediction For Notts County vs Milton Keynes Dons: Both teams to score: yes 11/25

Those looking for a safer prediction should consider predicting both teams to score. Notts County are one of the best attacking teams in the league. They average 1.5 goals scored per game, a stat bettered by just two other teams, and they have created the second-highest xG and the most big chances of any team in League Two. Additionally, they have raw quality at the top of the pitch in the form of the experienced David McGoldrick and rangy frontman Alassana Jatta, who have 14 and 17 league goals respectively, putting them both in the top five scorers in the fourth tier. MK Dons also have a lot of attacking talent which has started to perform at a higher level in recent weeks. The likes of Liam Kelly, Daniel Crowley, Alex Gilbey and Danilo Orsi have all proven that they are capable of getting around 20 goals and assists in the fourth division in the last two campaigns and, if Gladwin can get all of them firing, no defence will be able to stop them. The Dons have scored seven times in their last five games and they have created the ninth-most big chances in League Two.

3rd Prediction For Notts County vs Milton Keynes Dons: Danilo Orsi-Dadamo to score at any time: 63/20

As previously mentioned, there are a host of attackers across both teams who have the potential to score prolifically in League Two, but Danilo Orsi offers the perfect blend between recent form and potentially fruitful odds offered by the bookmakers. The 28-year-old spent the first half of the season at struggling League One side Burton Albion. But, he acquitted himself reasonably well, scoring six times in 27 league appearances, making him their second-highest scorer this season. Since Gladwin became MK Dons manager, Orsi has began to find his form again as he has scored twice in his last five starts, including in his last appearance against Fleetwood Town. He has scored more goals per 90 than 73% of League Two strikers and he has more xG on target per 90 than 83% of League Two frontmen. Everyone at MK Dons will be hoping that he can find the form which saw him fire Crawley Town to promotion from this very league last season.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Notts County are currently in the thick of an intense battle for automatic promotion. They sit in sixth place in League Two at the moment, having accumulated 65 points from 39 league games, but they are just two points off the automatic promotion places. Although their recent form has not been outstanding, they have picked up seven points in their last five games, the Magpies have not lost too much ground because no side in the top six has picked up more than nine points in their last five matches. Stuart Maynard will know that his side need to beat MK Dons if they are to have any chance of securing automatic promotion to League One, especially as they have a couple of tricky fixtures in the final few weeks of the season.

Ben Gladwin’s MK Dons side currently occupy 17th place in League Two after what has been a very disappointing season. The Dons have won two of their last five games in all competitions, though they have played both Morecambe FC and Carlisle United, both of whom are cut adrift at the bottom of the table, in that time. Gladwin will be hoping that his side can pick up their sixth away win of the campaign so that he can impress the higher-ups at the club and potentially push to claim the Dons’ managerial vacancy on a permanent basis. He will be buoyed by the fact that the Dons have won nine of the 15 meetings between the two clubs.

The last time the two teams met saw Notts County create five big chances and emerge as resounding two-nil winners, though the Dons have changed their manager since that Boxing Day clash.
