Our Three Predictions For Tranmere Rovers vs Cheltenham Town:

  • First Prediction For Tranmere Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Match Result – Tranmere Rovers – 11/10
  • Second Prediction For Tranmere Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Over 2.5 Goals – 9/10
  • Third Prediction For Tranmere Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes– 33/50

First Prediction For Tranmere Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Match Result – Tranmere Rovers – 11/10

Tranmere are five games unbeaten, finally putting daylight between themselves and the bottom two. This has come in the wake of Nigel Adkins dismissal from Rovers, which seemed only a matter of time for weeks prior to his sacking, as they slipped further towards the relegation zone. Unsurprisingly, given their league position, Rovers have the 21st best home record in League Two. While only winning five times all season, they have lost the same number, which is the same figure as sixth-place Notts County. Cheltenham have a decent record away from Gloucester, but with just four wins in their eighteen away outings, Tranmere can be confident of inflicting a ninth away loss on the Robins.

Second Prediction For Tranmere Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Over 2.5 Goals – 9/10

Goals at Prenton Park this term have been hard to come by. No fourth-tier venue has had fewer goals than Tranmere, with supporters seeing just 37 in their nineteen home games. But their weak attack is counteracted by a strong defence which is tenth in that department in comparison to their league rivals. The Robins tally of 23 away from home is around the average for the division, though only four teams have conceded more on their travels. With this is mind, a scoreline replicating Rovers’ last home game against Bromley should be expected.

Third Prediction For Tranmere Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes– 33/50

The Super White Army have improved their goalscoring record in recent times, finding the back of the net in six of their last eight. Five of those games have seen both sides score, a slight improvement on their previous nine games to start 2025 where that figure was four. After four scoreless away outings to start 2025, Michael Flynn’s side have drastically improved their record in recent times. In two of their last four, Cheltenham have netted three times, winning half of those games. Therefore, both teams should find the net under the floodlights.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Tranmere continued their unbeaten March at Fleetwood on Saturday by holding Pete Wild’s side to a goalless draw. That was their third stalemate in five, but two crucial victories in that period have increased the gap to the bottom two to seven points with eight games to play. Rovers began the month with back-to-back draws against Play-Off chasing Port Vale and Grimsby, before ending their twelve game wait for a win by coming from behind to defeat Bromley. Their next outing at Valley Parade against Bradford appeared a much more difficult proposition though.

The Bantams had won a club-record ten home games in a row, failing to concede their last six in West Yorkshire. Rovers meanwhile were winless away from home since defeating Bromley in October, yet achieved only their third away success of the campaign thanks to Josh Hawkes controversial penalty. The first two months of 2025 had been much tougher, seeing Nigel Adkins lose his job at the end of February. Rovers were just two points clear of the drop zone by the time of his departure. They were only the right side of the dotted line thanks to their singlar success of the calendar year before he was sacked, coming against basement side Carlisle on the opening weekend of the year.

By the time 2025 begun Cheltenham were sat in fourteenth spot, which is a position they still occupy going into Friday’s encounter. The Robins have been inconsistent at best, winning, drawing and losing in equal measure in their past nine. This mini-run began with consecutive victories over Barrow and Newport, scoring three in both. Walsall looked to be heading for the points heading into injury time before a dramatic late show from the Robins. The Saddlers had likewise won two in a row but were pegged back at the death following goals from George Miller and Jordan Thomas in the final few moments. After taking a point against Grimsby, Cheltenham had renewed optimism heading into their encounter with Bradford.

Their resilience lasted 30 minutes, before two quick fire goals before the hour sealed a comfortable home win. Another in-form side in Colchester were next up, and in keeping with their previous results, the U’s recorded a narrow victory. A midweek clash in the capital followed, against a stumbling AFC Wimbledon outfit. Sure enough, a header from Ashley Hay along with Matty Taylor’s winner twelve minutes from time condemned the Dons to a third loss in four. The Robins threw away a two goal advantage after going down to ten men at Swindon to share the spoils in a six goal thriller, before losing at MK Dons on Saturday.

Tranmere are unlikely to need many more points to seal their fourth tier status. They will be hopeful of getting something in their next encounter at the side directly above them, Harrogate. Following a lunchtime kick-off against Chesterfield, Rovers have home games against promotion-contenders Doncaster and Crewe, before ending the campaign in South Wales at Newport.

Cheltenham also have games against Donny and Alexandra, just before Tranmere face them. Prior to that, they have a long trip to the North-west with a bonus day rest to face Morecambe. Easter sees them host Gillingham before travelling to Notts County, while they also finish the season away from home at Bromley.

These two sides first met this century, playing regularly across eighteen fixtures since. Cheltenham have the upper hand with ten victories to Tranmere’s six, with the Robins winning three in a row without conceding. There were two comprehensive victories in the 20/21 campaign, including a 4-0 victory, which also came on a Friday.
