Our Three Predictions For Fleetwood Town vs Tranmere Rovers

  • First Prediction: Tranmere Rovers – Draw No Bet – 17/10
  • Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 83/100
  • Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 1/1

First Prediction For Fleetwood Town vs Tranmere Rovers – Tranmere Rovers – Draw No Bet – 17/10

It’s been a largely disappointing season for Fleetwood following their relegation from League One. They would have liked to have challenged for an immediate return to the third tier, but they’ve had to steady the ship. It looked at one point as if the Cod Army could become embroiled in a second successive relegation scrap, leading to the departure of Charlie Adam in December. Pete Wild has brought back a degree of stability, and they currently sit 14th in League Two. They enter this game with almost nothing to play for, nine points outside the play-off places with nine games remaining.

It’s a completely different scenario for Tranmere. The club recently parted company with Nigel Adkins, with Andy Crosby taking on the reins until the end of the season. The 52-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable ‘new-manager bounce’ and is unbeaten in four games. This includes back-to-back wins; the first time Rovers have achieved this since August. More importantly, they now sit six points above the relegation places with nine games left to play. With Fleetwood having virtually nothing to play for, it wouldn’t be a major surprise to see Tranmere pick up another win, but backing them on a draw no bet option would protect your stake if the scores end level.

Second Prediction For Fleetwood Town vs Tranmere Rovers – Both Teams To Score – 83/100

Prior to last weekend’s 3-0 defeat against Colchester United, Fleetwood had been in five successive fixtures where both teams scored. They’ll certainly be confident that they can score in front of their own supporters, something they have achieved in 10 of their last 11 outings at Highbury. However, they have been frail at the back in recent weeks, conceding in each of their last six.

Although Tranmere’s recent resurgence means they are pulling away from the bottom two, they are still very much involved in the relegation conversation. As such, they know they need to keep on scoring, a feat they have achieved in five of their last six. They have kept just two clean sheets in their last 14 though, although one of those was against Fleetwood when the pair played out a 0-0 draw last month.

Third Prediction For Fleetwood Town vs Tranmere Rovers – Over 2.5 Goals – 1/1

Whilst the return fixture at Prenton Park was a drab affair, there is more riding on this game now, which could make for an open affair. Fleetwood have seen five of their last six produce at least three goals. Considering their previous 31 games had only seen this feat achieved 12 times, it shows a significant change since the arrival of Pete Wild.

Tranmere will be going for a third successive win for the first time this season. Although they managed to keep a clean sheet at promotion chasing Bradford City last weekend, they have been really poor defensively, conceding 55 goals. This means they may need to score at least twice to secure another three points.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

Fleetwood’s four game unbeaten run came to an end last weekend when they lost 3-0 at play-off hopefuls Colchester United. Prior to that, the Cod Army had picked up a 2-1 win over Gillingham and an impressive 4-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra, whilst drawing 2-2 and 1-1 with Notts County and Port Vale respectively. With two defeats in their last 10, Pete Wild’s team have settled firmly in mid-table and sit 14th, nine points off the play-off positions. However, with just nine games remaining, a late surge for a top seven finish seems unlikely.

Tranmere have endured a dreadful season which has seen them spend the campaign battling the drop to the National League. They eventually decided to part company with Nigel Adkins last month, which has provided a timely boost to their survival hopes. Having picked up just one win since the turn of the year under their previous boss, interim Andy Crosby has responded with two wins and a draw. A 1-0 victory over promotion chasing Bradford City last weekend followed a 2-1 win against Bromley, which has seen them move six points above the drop zone.

There haven’t been many meetings between the two teams in the EFL, with last month’s 0-0 draw just their second. Fleetwood won 2-1 in their clash in League One in 2019 at Highbury, whilst the reverse fixture was postponed due to the COVID outbreak in 2020. The Lancashire-based side also won both their previous meetings in the EFL Trophy in 2013 and 2023, meaning Tranmere are yet to record a victory over the Cod Army.
