Our Three Predictions for Notts County vs Crewe Alexandra

  • First Prediction: Match to end in a draw – 12/5
  • Second Prediction: Both teams to score – 61/100
  • Third Prediction: David McGoldrick to score at any time – 3/2

First Prediction for Notts County vs Crewe Alexandra – Match to end in a draw – 12/5

Neither side are strangers to drawing games this season. Lee Bell’s side have drawn more games than they have won, drawing 15 and winning 14 in the third tier this season. Their opposition have drawn 10, which is the highest amount out of the top five sides. On top of this, Crewe have one of the best away records in the division and have drawn nine of their 15 games on the road. Both sides have also experienced a drop-off in form recently, with Notts County winning just one of their last five games despite the side sitting in the playoffs and the away side winning twice, however, are winless in their last three.Β With both sides’ tendency to draw games, as well as the fact form has dropped in recent weeks, it would not be surprising to see either side take just a singular point from this affair.Β

Second Prediction for Notts County vs Crewe Alexandra – Both teams to score – 61/100

It will come as no shock to see both sides score at least one goal on Saturday. The Magpies play some of the best-attacking football and have two players who feature in the top five League Two goalscoring charts. Whilst Alassana Jatta will miss this game through international duty, the experienced David McGoldrick is back and fit from injury, which is a huge boost for Stuart Maynard’s side. County have the third-best goalscoring record in the division, only behind league leaders Walsall and Chesterfield. Although their opponents haven’t reached the heights that they have, Crewe have still scored a respectable 45 goals in 36 games. Their defensive record, however, is slightly better, conceding one less than Notts County. Both sides have only failed to score on eight occasions in the league, with both sides averaging above one goal scored per game. At the same time, the goals conceded per game average is also above one. These stats all suggest that both sides will find the net in the early kick-off.Β

Third Prediction for Notts County vs Crewe Alexandra – David McGoldrick to score at any time – 3/2

Experienced striker David McGoldrick is back fit for Notts County after over a month on the sidelines. The 37-year-old has aged like fine wine, scoring 13 goals for the Magpies last season, and scoring 14 goals so far this season after returning to Meadow Lane in the summer of 2023. Although, as previously mentioned, he missed over a month out with an injury, he is already back among the goals and has scored one goal in his last two games in black and white, with the Irishman only starting one game. Like his strike partner Jatta, he is well and truly in the race for League Two Golden Boot, currently sitting as fifth highest goal scorer with his 14 goals so far. It would come as no surprise to many if he were to further add to his tally to help his side on Saturday.Β

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head

As mentioned above, both sides have suffered a dip in form recently, with Notts only winning one in their last five matches whilst Crewe have won two, but are winless in three matches.

There’s no doubt how crucial three points could be for either side with how close the League Two promotion race is as we head into the business end of the season. For the hosts, depending on other results from around the grounds, they could move back into one of the three automatic promotion spots. The Railwaymen could sneak into the last playoff spot depending on Colchester’s result against promotion rivals Bradford City.

Since 2012, these sides have met 15 times in both the third and fourth tier of English football. Notts County hold the majority of wins, winning seven, whilst Crewe have won five. The remaining three fixtures have ended level at full-time.
