Our Three Predictions For Wrexham vs Stockport County:

  • First Prediction For Wrexham vs Stockport County: Match Result – Wrexham – 7/5
  • Second Prediction For Wrexham vs Stockport County: Over 2.5 Goals – 7/5
  • Third Prediction For Wrexham vs Stockport County: Half-Time Result – Draw – 17/20

First Prediction For Wrexham vs Stockport County: Match Result – Wrexham – 7/5

Wrexham have one of the best home records in the EFL over the past few years, turning The Racecourse into a fortress. In their final two campaigns in the National League, Wrexham lost just once, winning 22 out of 23 encounters in their promotion-winning year. Since then, they have only been defeated five times on their return to the EFL, though they lost back-to-back games earlier this year. While the Red Dragons have the second-best home record, Stockport are similarly impressive on their travels, losing only five games this term. Three of them defeats came in the space of five away outings, though they have since lost once in the past eight fixtures away from home. But a positive result on Saturday afternoon may prove to be a bridge too far, with Wrexham the favourites for this encounter.

Second Prediction For Wrexham vs Stockport County: Over 2.5 Goals – 7/5

Goalscoring in Wrexham’s games has fallen drastically in March, seeing a total of five goals in as many games. That figure was over four times higher in seven outings across all competitions last month. Only Bolton have scored more than their 33 home goals, while just three sides have conceded fewer times than Phil Parkinson’s side. Stockport likewise have a strong defence away from Greater Manchester, averaging less than a goal a game in that department. Their scoring hasn’t been as impressive, but that points to an ability to win games by a narrow margin. But Wrexham’s strong home record and a similar strength in grinding out results should see them over the line once again.

Third Prediction For Wrexham vs Stockport County: Half-Time Result – Draw – 17/20

These two sides have very close records in the first half of games, though the makeup of it is entirely different. Wrexham and Stockport have 57 and 55 points respectively by the interval, though the Red Dragons’ record of trailing four times is the fewest in League One. They are also leaders in another department, drawing 21 of their 37 games in the third tier after 45 minutes. Stockport have led on two more occasions than their counterparts, but it would be no surprise to see the score level by Saturday at 16:00.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Wrexham’s habit of grinding out results provided its finest result on Saturday afternoon as they recorded their biggest win of the campaign at second place Wycombe. With that result, the Red Dragons have overtaken the Chairboys into the final automatic promotion place, though the Buckinghamshire side play their game in hand against Rotherham this evening. It goes without saying that the result paled into insignificance, with a 50-minute pause in the game due to a medical incident in the away end. Thanks to the actions of those at Wycombe, the supporter survived and is now recovering in hospital.

Sam Smith netted the winner at Adams Park, though he couldn’t replicate that feat in the midweek prior against his old side Reading. That is their only loss in March to date, with two successive victories before that coming against Rotherham and Huddersfield. The Welsh side took a point at home to Bolton, only a few weeks after they defeated the Trotters in the EFL Trophy Quarter-Finals. That was in vain as a Hollywood Final was minutes away, until Bradley Ihionvien netted in stoppage time for Peterborough to send the game to penalties, which Posh eventually prevailed in. A Wembley appearance may not evade them, if they take that route by finishing inside the Play-Off places.

Stockport remain in the race to secure second spot too, enhancing their prospects and possibly ending Bolton’s faint hopes in a narrow win on Saturday afternoon. That continued their unbeaten March, and means it is just one loss since 4th January for Dave Challinor’s outfit. That also made it eight wins from their last twelve, though they had drawn twice prior to that victory over their Lancashire rivals. A stalemate at the Cobblers was followed by a goalless draw against in-form Charlton, though they were successful against Blackpool on the opening day of the month.

2025 has been a great year for the Hatters, since taking one point out of six available to start the year. That was followed by a valiant showing at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup 3rd Round, before returning to league action with a bang. Stockport won their next five games in a row, starting at Reading before two home successes in four days against Crawley and Shrewsbury, keeping clean sheets in both meetings. After further victories over Leyton Orient and Barnsley, there was late disappointment at Bristol Rovers, as the Gas struck late on to level. They quickly returned to winning way at Wigan before being shocked by Cambridge at the end of February.

On paper at least, the Red Dragons have a favourable run in. Consecutive away trips are next on the agenda, at Exeter and Cambridge, with the run of teams inside the bottom nine continuing against Burton, Wigan and Bristol Rovers. Their final three games present a few more challenges, at least on paper, with a massive final home encounter against Charlton before a trip to Lincoln awaits on the final day. The Imps are the final team to visit Edgeley Park this term, before a pivotal final away day at Wycombe. Before that, the Hatters have a similarly decent run, facing the likes of Burton and Exeter over the next few weeks. Easter throws up a game against Peterborough before the first of potentially three games against the Terriers, if they both end up finishing inside the Play-Off places.

First meeting in 1922, this encounter will be the 120th clash over the past century. County lead the head-to-head record by eleven wins, emerging victorious in this seasons latest instalment by a single goal back in November. The Hatters thrashed Wrexham last term 5-0 before the Red Dragons won the season finale, though both clubs were already promoted by that point. But the clash on Saturday will hold much greater weight, and is perhaps the biggest ever game between the sides.
