Our Three Predictions For Bristol City v Norwich City

  • Prediction 1 – Bristol City To Win – 21/20
  • Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/4
  • Prediction 3 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 9/10

First Prediction For Bristol City v Norwich City – Bristol City To Win – 21/20

This match could be a tipping point for both as they chase a playoff place. The home form of Bristol City mirrors their league placing, seventh best. That could be the deciding factor as Norwich City are not good travellers, with only a 14th best showing on the road. If we break this down further we can see that The Robins have only lost three of their 18 Championship games this season, and that form is a reason why they are making a late surge, wining half of that number along the way. Unbeaten in the last three home outings, with wins against Middlesbrough and Stoke City. The Canaries have matched that with a run of three unbeaten on the road, but with only four wins, and eight losses from their 18 away, and licking their wounds from letting a two goal lead slip earlier in the week, this could be another long road trip with no points.

Second Prediction For Bristol City v Norwich City – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/4

As both sides cling to the hope of a late promotion push, they are not goal shy. Bristol have scored five in the last three home games, and have totalled 26 overall on their patch. In the last six games they have scored nine times. Norwich have been prolific at home with 44 goals scored, but only 15 away. They have been consistent of late though scoring once in each of their last three away games, and stayed unbeaten in that time. Both sides also have trouble keeping clean sheets, with Norwich letting in 25 on their travels, and Bristol a big 40 overall, which may be their undoing in the playoff chase.

Third Prediction For Bristol City v Norwich City – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 9/10

This goes a little against the trend as of late both sides have been in close games. In fact of the last eight games for Bristol City, seven have been under 2.5 goals scored. But the goals are flowing at both ends with only two teams remaining goalless in the last six games. Norwich City games are a bit less predictable in that sense. The five goal thriller just days ago firmly in their minds, and a six goal game less than a month ago with Stoke City. With the teams in the thick of the playoff race, and seemingly scoring, and conceding, with ease, this could mean another goal fest! Look for a high scoring game as they push each other hard for a win.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

There is always a team that makes a late run for the playoffs, and even though there is still plenty of games left, Liam Manning will be thinking his team are the ones that perhaps unexpectedly get in. Often those sneaking in also have a real shot of going up as momentum is on their side. To do that they have to keep digging deep and keep their good run of form going, currently a run of six unbeaten. Scott Twine continues to be a real engine in midfield, his five goals and same number of assists being a real cornerstone of their form. Max Bird is another who helps the forward line, with his six assists. At the back Rob Dickie has been a mainstay, but Zak Vyner has been ever present with 37 games played in total. City are very much in the hunt, and this game will prove if they are up for the challenge in the last few games that remain.

Norwich City were very much a real contender at half time last Tuesday, but their capitulation, as well as Sheffield Wednesday’s attacking threat, meant that new doubts were cast over their mentality. Johannes Thorup will have to get his side remotivated as they head into the final stages, and this game might have come at the right time, weirdly. A match against a playoff chasing rival may be enough to bring out the best in them. Borja Sainz is their top man, and even though not completely reliant on his 16 goals and four assists, he is very much the one to watch. The Spanish striker is helped by Danish forward Emiliano Marcondes, who has four goals and six assists for this high scoring team. Keeping things tighter at the back will be Callum Doyle’s thoughts, as the young defender has played virtually every minute so far for the Canaries, and his partner at the back Shane Duffy will know that if they can stop the flow of goals they could still have a chance of making the top six.
