Our Three Predictions For Watford vs Swansea City:

  • First Prediction For Watford vs Swansea City: Match Result – Watford – 5/4
  • Second Prediction For Watford vs Swansea City: Under 2.5 Goals – 33/50
  • Third Prediction For Watford vs Swansea City: Half-Time Result – Swansea City – 14/5

First Prediction For Watford vs Swansea City: Match Result – Watford – 5/4

This feels like a very difficult game to predict on paper. Watford are in desperate need of a win to keep their very faint ambitions of a Play-Off place alive. Their current gap to the top six stands at six points, a deficit which feels very tough to make up with only ten games to go. After their two wins at the end of February, this current month has seen them pick up a sole point from two games, not the sort of return they require at this stage. The Hornets had a very impressive home record up until a run of six losses in their past seven, though they still stand tenth in that table. Swansea, meanwhile, average a point a game on their travels, losing the same amount of games away from South Wales that Watford have won on home soil. For that reason, a Watford win feels slightly more likely, but this should be a closely contested game.

Second Prediction For Watford vs Swansea City: Under 2.5 Goals – 33/50

Games at Vicarage Road have some of the fewest amount of goals in the Championship, while they have been low scorers across all venues in recent times. There have been a couple of outliers, notably the heavy defeat against Leeds and the score draw at Sunderland. They are the only two games since New Year’s Day that have had more than three goals, with the Hornets scoring 23 home goals and conceding nineteen. That is matched by Swansea, who have netted only thirteen times on the road, with only three sides scoring fewer. The Swans, though, have kept three clean sheets in a row, which is every game since Luke Williams departed, so a low-scoring game should follow that pattern.

Third Prediction For Watford vs Swansea City: Half-Time Result – Swansea City – 14/5

While this statistic may contradict the predictions above, the first half table for the Championship cannot be ignored. Swansea have led fifteen games at the interval this term, sitting thirteen points and ten places better off. It is their turnaround in the loss column though that is most damming, trailing just nine games compared with sixteen across the full ninety minutes. Watford meanwhile are eleven points worse off in the first period, leading just eight times at the halfway point of games. They sit twentieth in the standings, so off this evidence, Swansea may expect to lead in the first half of this midweek game.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Watford have recovered from a woeful start to 2025, which left Tom Cleverley under pressure, to record two wins in their past four games. Five out of their seven January fixtures were lost, with a solitary victory at Derby. That pattern continued last month with two defeats from three, including a four-nil thrashing by Leeds, their fifth home loss in succession. The tide began to turn though four days later as Moussa Sissoko headed in the only goal at Middlesbrough.

That result left Boro boss Michael Carrick feeling the pressure, with both clubs losing four of their past five prior to the Riverside clash. But that win was perfect timing ahead of their derby with Luton, which they followed up with a convincing two-nil win after netting twice inside the opening 25 minutes. March has been a little tougher going thus far though, losing to Millwall at the weekend after a goalless draw at Stoke.

Swansea’s search for a manager is no closer to reaching a conclusion. Alan Sheehan remains in temporary charge after Luke Williams was dismissed almost a month ago following a run of seven defeats in nine outings. That sacking has had the desired affect to date thus far as they are three games unbeaten, shocking Blackburn in the first with a three nil victory.

The Swans meeting with Preston was pushed back a few days as a result of the Lilywhites progression in the FA Cup, and their triumph over Burnley led to a drab encounter. While North End were the better outfit on the night, Swansea’s new found resilience saw them take a hard earned point on the road. That continued on Saturday as Eom Ji-Sung scored in style without reply, making it three clean sheets in a row to move closer to the top six than the bottom three.

Following the Swans’ midweek encounter, they face two of the top three before March is out. Burnley are the visitors to South Wales on Saturday, before leaders Leeds host the Welsh outfit after the international break. Watford’s two remaining games this month are easier on paper, as they prepare for fixtures against two of the bottom seven. Oxford have dragged themselves clear of the drop and they host the Hornets at the weekend, before bottom side Plymouth face the long trip to Hertfordshire for an early kick-off.

No side has a clear edge in recent times in this encounter, though Swansea lead the head-to-head by seven wins. Goals have been at a premium in the past three encounters with a maximum of two, while only one was needed earlier in the campaign to separate the sides. Myles Peart-Harris scored his first goal to give the Swansea all three points ten minutes before the break back in November, though he has returned to Brentford after suffering an injury and is unlikely to play again this term.
