Our 3 predictions for Leeds United vs Millwall

  • 1st prediction: Leeds United to win or draw
  • 2nd prediction: Over 2.5 goals in the game
  • 3rd prediction: Both teams to score

1st prediction for Leeds United vs Millwall: Leeds United to win or draw – 3/100

This is a prediction made purely on the basis of the league table and the positions the teams are in. Leeds are flying as they look to go for the title and promotion back to the Premier League, and so are a very difficult team to beat. In addition to this, they have home advantage which is a scary prospect for any opponent as a rocking Elland Road with Leeds going well is about as hard as any place to play. While Leeds did lose last time out to Portsmouth this may actually help them; they will want to right that wrong and there will almost certainly be a reaction which would hurt Millwall. They will look at this game as a chance to correct the blip in their title charge and a win here would further cement them as favourites.

2nd prediction for Leeds United vs Millwall: Under 2.5 goals in the game – 17/20

While Leeds have been fantastic going forward, this prediction represents the fact that they are slightly shaky at the back at times despite their position, so there is a chance for Millwall. Their defence has always looked slightly vulnerable and Millwall will look to exploit that with their typical aggressive style of play. Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier is also prone to the odd howler, which always means there’s a chance for a goal. That being said though, this fixture largely represents Leeds’ attacking prowess. They have the ability to blow teams way and score several times with players such as Brendan Aaronson, Joel Piroe and Dan James going well, so Millwall will have a task on their hands if their opponents are playing at full tilt.

3rd prediction for Leeds United vs Millwall: Both teams to score – 7/5

This is a pretty similar prediction to the previous one. Millwall are looking up after a slight lull in form with Alex Neil doing a decent, if unremarkable job. With their style of play it’s always tasty and goals are always an option, especially with Leeds playing similarly. Millwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic looks to have hit form having previously struggled for goals, so Millwall do have a chance here. Again, Leeds have players who wouldn’t look out of place in the top-flight an with their home advantage they will attack from the off as they look to bounce back, so expect them to score at least one on Wednesday night.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head

This is a huge game in the Championship. There’s very little riding on it for Millwall but it could not be more important for Leeds who will be looking to correct a slight slip up in their chase for the title. The home side come into this one level on points with Sheffield United having both played the same number of games; if they lose here and other teams pick up points, they could fall out of the promotion places entirely. In terms of form, they’ve won four of their last six with a singular loss – that 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth at the weekend.

As for Millwall, it’s very mixed for them. They sit 12th having won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six, and a play-off push seems out of the question for them now as they look towards another mid-table finish. Their last game was a win, a 2-1 away victory at Watford so they’ll feel confident for this one.

In terms of this fixture’s history, Millwall actually just have the upper hand, having won 20 games to Leeds’ 19. Leeds do, however, have the upper hand having won against Millwall twice this season already, so they’ll be hoping to complete this particular treble.
