1st Prediction For Norwich City vs Sheffield Wednesday: Norwich City to win 11/10

Norwich City have struggled to consistently perform at their best since the new year, but Canaries have more underlying quality than Sheffield Wednesday which should see them emerge victorious on Tuesday evening. Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side sit in 10th place in the league, just one point above Sheffield Wednesday, which is slightly surprising given the differing ambitions of both sets of fans ahead of the campaign. Over their last five league games, the Canaries have lost just once, but drawn three times which means they have picked up a rather average six points. This is the same number as Sheffield Wednesday, though Danny Röhl’s men have won two and lost three of their last five games. Part of the reason for Norwich’s lack of consistency has been the drop-off in form of Borja Sainz, as the Spaniard, who is remarkably still the league’s top goalscorer, has not found the net since November.

2nd Prediction For Norwich City vs Sheffield Wednesday: Both teams to score: yes 61/100

Those looking for a slightly safer prediction ahead of Tuesday’s game should consider predicting both teams to score. Norwich have not kept a clean sheet since the 1st of February, meaning they are likely to concede a goal, and they are an extremely prolific team going forward. They average 1.6 goals per game, a record only bettered by Leeds United, and they have created the fourth-highest xG and third most big chances of any Championship team, meaning they are very likely to score as well. In a similar vein, Sheffield Wednesday have only failed to score once in their last nine league games and that was against Burnley who have an unbelievably good defensive record. Danny Röhl’s team have conceded the seventh-highest xG of any Championship and as well as the fifth-most goals per game.

3rd Prediction For Norwich City vs Sheffield Wednesday: Josh Sargent to score at any time 4/1

As previously mentioned, Norwich City’s talisman in the first half of the season, Borja Sainz, has massively lost his way in the second half of the campaign. The only reason that the Canaries have not suffered more is due to the return from injury and return to form of striker Josh Sargent. The American international had a fairly slow start to the season before missing the entirety of November and December due to injury, but he has scored a remarkable eight times in his last eight games to make him the most in-form attacker in the second tier. Despite missing so many games due to injury, the 25-year-old is now the third-highest scorer in the Championship and he looks well set to beat his career best goal tally of 16 goals in a season. The Sheffield Wednesday defenders, who have conceded eight times in their last four games, will be in for another tough evening against Sargent on Tuesday.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Norwich City come into Tuesday’s game sitting in 10th place in the Championship having accumulated 49 points in 36 games. Their inconsistency since the new year has seen them drop six points off the playoff places but, if Johannes Hoff Thorup can get his key players firing, there is no reason why the Canaries would not be able to match last season’s result of sixth-place. In order to start doing this, the Canaries will need to win on Tuesday night. Although they have lost just three of their 18 games at home, far too many matches have ended in draws which they cannot afford anymore.

As for Sheffield Wednesday, Danny Röhl has done an excellent job to get his team into 13th place and just one point behind their hosts on Tuesday. Although they have only won two of their last five league games, the Owls still have an outside chance of reaching the playoffs which would be an unbelievable feat given the off-field issues which Röhl has had to contend with. Whilst the playoff might be a step too far for Sheffield Wednesday, they would certainly fancy their chances against Norwich given how good their away form is (only four teams have picked up more points on the road than Sheffield Wednesday).

When the two sides met earlier in the season, the Canaries dominated possession but the Owls created many more good opportunities and ended up as two-nil victors.
